Why the Comey firing could be Trump’s Watergate moment

This isnt France or the UK or Germany and the Eurotrash that likes to pass judgement on the US and things they clearly havent the competence to conprehend should keep their noses out of our bussiness.

Considering how we Americans comment on significant issues and events going on in other countries all the freaking time, I see no problem with a European (not "Eurotrash") doing the same.

Liberals during the election "Fire Comey for reopening Hillary's emails costing her the election!!11!!!"

Liberals after Trump fires Comey "Omg Russia, scandal, he shouldn't have fired him!"

Their "resistance" never ceases to make me laugh :lamo The liberal hypocrisy is so strong and many are so politically deranged they will just hate Trump for the sake of hating Trump.

Trump during the election: "Comey is brave for his investigations of Clinton."

Trump after the election: "Comey is fired for mishandling the Clinton investigation."

It can be argued that "Ameritrash" comment on Europe and elsewhere all the time.

I asked about the good of this nation. And I don't think that political instability in the United States benefits anybody it should benefit.

Like is just a TV show to most of these folks. After all, the media defines the culture and they have sent Trump to live in these fool's heads, rent free.

They said the investigations were not concluded, did they not?

There's house, and senate, and FBI. So they say. But given the investigation into Clinton, Inc. there is no telling what is being investigated and what isn't, and how hard they are working on the project vs the media.

Pot meet kettle.
From 2 days ago.....
Fienstein and Manchin : No evidence of Russian Collusion
Dianne Feinstein & Joe Manchin admit: No evidence of Trump/Russia collusion

Once in a Blue Moon comes to mind. In this case, regarding Media Bias, I actually agree you made a very valid point! As to the best place for this thread, I would support General Political Discussion but definitely not CT.

Tis difficult to imitate the burning, visceral hate a Trumpertarian can bring to bear.

Tis not healthy for America to keep reliving the sins of the Clinton; we have enough of Trump to keep us occupied.

I think the major telling of how this will affect Trump is a) who he replaces Comey with; and b) what the replacement does with the Russia/Trump campaign investigation.

I assume Trump will install a yes man and get that yes man to dump the Russia/Trump campaign investigation as quickly as they dare.

This won't affect his die hard, Trumpbot supporters from the sticks. He could probably beat puppies to death on the White House lawn and they would figure out a reason that this was a good thing.

But the rest of the country? We will see.

As regards the facts, the article speaks for itself.

You have every right not to believe them, because the investigations are only in their preliminary stages.

But, this "story" has legs. We shall see ...

There is no evidence of collusion. Everyone with access to information of the investigations says so. You believe what you want, but don't be surprised if you are placed in the CT category.

"APPEARANCE of impropriety"

You just see what you want to see in my posts, don't you?

Nothing about this appears the least improper to me. Firing Mr. Comey did nothing whatever to hinder any investigation into any anything President Trump or any of his associates may have done.

Firing Comey at this point in time is shady as ****. And nobody, not even his supporters, can honestly say they believe the reason given. But it isn't illegal. He may lose a percentage or two in approval ratings and a few members of congress may be less supportive, but that is probably it.
Totally agree. It IS shady as F, and is yet another in a continuous string of examples to his lack of credibility as a President, but... it's not illegal.

Firing the chief of the organization investigating the trump campaigns connections with the Russians interference in the 2016 election. I believe that could be grounds for obstruction of justice

He said that in the same quote you cut off. Or, were you too busy being a knee-jerk reactionary to notice?

Are you going to be ok?

Well, yes and no.

He is growing a larger and more entrenched opposition base, and in this country and with our form of democratic representative constitutional republic, political will trumps (I hate that word) all.

If the GOP base start turning in even a few congressional districts, Trump's time may come.

The Dems will likely act as a Senatorial bloc, demanding an indie counsel before they approve Trump's new FBI pick. They need 3 sympathetic GOP, 2 if Pence stays neutral (possible).

What needs to happen, is the GOP rank & file voters in the more moderate districts need to start getting unraveled a bit over Trump. We already saw they can break away on healthcare. We need them to break away on Trump himself.

The Senate is the key. It is the safeguard of the Republic. That was it's design. That's where Nixon's Presidency met its demise.
If DP is an indicator, I think his rabid base is getting smaller, but those remaining have become more resolute.

The investigation didn't get obstructed.

Meh, maybe, but I kinda doubt it. He hasn't technically outright stopped or blocked the investigation itself, which may be his "out" on legal angles.

If trump tries to appoint a crony to the FBI, he is trying to make the FBI politically loyal to him

Shortly after the election, I was asked numerous times by French friends "How could that have possibly happen?".

You see, not only the French, but anybody within a real-democracy cannot understand how the popular-vote can be "tricked". And despite my explanations regarding the Electoral College, they fall on deaf ears.

In fact, the historical reason for the EC is that at the turn of the 19th century most Americans could not read and write. Some people in DC thought that there might be "manipulation of the masses". So, they devised the Electoral College.

Regardless of the EC's origins, only the popular-vote can be the real determinant of any free and honest election. The US must rid-itself of a dangerous interference to a fundamental democratic institution - the popular-vote of political representation.

Period ...
Had it been the opposite... Trump won the popular vote and Hillary won the EC... what do you believe Hillary (and her supporters) would have done?
