American police are totally justified in having an increased expectation of violence on apprehending or even stopping someone. I believe that the increased fear and anxiety that this expectation naturally causes makes them more prone to over reaction and unjustifiably harming someone.

Mass incarceration was created by design and Reagan’s biggest error was creating a private system which profited heavily from mass incarceration. The problems really started with Nixon, that dirtbag was as crooked as they come.

Mass incarceration is a vicious cycle. This along with ghettoization, white flight, property values determining how much funding a school gets the selfish and stuck up suburbanite attitude towards inner cities, the fact that even if you are declared innocent that permanent record goes with you for the rest of your life. The republican party stripped the key enforcement provision of the voting rights act so they could continue disenfranchising black people with phony calls for election protections. We refuse to consider reforming incarcerated people and the sheer difficulty of getting employment

No. Study the positions of LBJ. He was a bitter racist, but he wanted the black vote. He knew that he had to create dependency on government and destroy the family unit.

yep, the last thing democrats really want is to have policies that wean people off of government dependency and handouts. An electorate were almost all the voters are paying their own way and not attached to the pubic umbilical cord, is an electorate that would be choosing between GOP and Libertarian candidates.

Southern middle class folks in the 60's were democrats. LBJ knew them well: "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

It's basic human nature to want the most benefit for the least effort. The GOP wants them to work while the Left wants to pay them to sit at home. Pretty easy to understand IMO.

The NRA doesn't control the firearms industry or the "gun market". I'm sure that the majority of NRA membership is white. That's irrelevant.

that has no relevance to this discussion. Nixon played on the civil unrest and high inner city crime rates-areas controlled by democrats and the fact that Democrats had appointed tons of federal judges-to tie Democrats to coddling criminals.

Nixon's most famous quote concerning this was that the Public will choose the policeman's Truncheon (Night stick or club) over the Anarchist's bomb. They did-they saw Nixon as the pro law and order candidate and a very admirable man-Hubert Humphrey-was sunk because his party was seen as the party enabling violent street crime and civil unrest.

He didn't give them that. The voting rights act was basically past by Republicans and a handful of Democrats. Democrsts were in opposition. LBJ signed it because he knew he couldn't veto it. You could take some time and research the issue, but that would require a little reading of history.
