White supremacy deserves to be shoved head first in the trash heap of history, but I can see how you would object to people who want to eliminate that and all other forms of racism.

America's bastardized version of capitalism has created the greatest wealth gap in history, while destroying the buying power of its minimum wage earners.

The Patriarchy don't like uppity women and that's a bit of a problem since most 21 century women fit the patriarch's definition to a T.

But I totally understand that when you read a quote like that, it doesn't need to prompt any thought for you to "know" its a direct personal anti-american existential threat.

for the land of the free and the home of the brave there sure are a lot of people who want to deny other's rights while running around in dire fear of uppitty darkies and the end of the America that is Great Again, sorta.

The point was that, in that world, insufficient enthusiasm would cause the Revolution to turn on you (and oh how swiftly and lethally it could do so), and so everyone was eager to trip over themselves to make sure that at least they never seemed to be the one who was least enthusiastic for whatever nutbaggery was going on.

My point here in this thread was that, if these folks are willing to incur the wrath of the Jacobins by taking a stand for a principle that I share with them (namely: the classic liberal ideal of valuing a free exchange of ideas), then I consider that a good thing. They are willing to stop applauding when their own side goes too far and abandons important principles. Good for them.

Quite the opposite, in this case. They are choosing to take a stand that will almost certainly cause them to take fire from the idiots on their own side.
