June Super Tuesday - The Revenge of the Establishment

Joe Biden’s delegate count at 1785 and climbing after he wins the primaries in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island, Maryland, New Mexico, South Dakota & Washington, D.C. Still awaiting results from Montana.

George Bush practically endorsed Biden as his people are forming a Biden Super Pac.

There were 8 state primary elections today, 4 states cancelled theirs. This is all leading to a cancelled Nov election. Certainly, in a free and fair election, Joe Biden would win by a landslide. But will there be an election? I'm not betting on it.

I'd gladly welcome the Bush's into the fold. They're a noble & reputable family. Hell - bring any moderates and principled conservatives you know, G.W. The more, the merrier. I'd love to have a party that's a true big-tent party. It's been a dream of mine for the Democratic Party.

There's a huge difference between a primary and an election, Pi. I see nothing to worry about. It's going to be wild & woolly, but it's going to go down. One way, or another.

Ah yes, the man responsible for the Iraq War we were lied into; the guy who stood by as one of the worst financial crisis' in American history unfolded while he sat on his hands despite his own admission that he was aware of a problem; the person responsible for helping engineer and vigourously signing into law the Patriot Act among other similar Constitution skirting security-state legislation, thereby heralding a brave new world of warrant-less mass surveillance; the war criminal; that principled G.W.

How could I forget?

They're not going to cancel the election.

Alright, you've got a fair point with the Patriot Act. But I wasn't arguing specific policy. I like G.W. & his father as men. And yes, I think they have a great family. They seem to comport themselves with decorum & dignity.

G.W. was over his head, and got led astray by hitching himself to Cheney & his crew. But I do believe he was a decent man that had the best interests of the country at heart. Ditto for his old man. The again, maybe I've let the Trump **** Show skew my frame-of-reference a bit.

Looks like Biden is 150 short of the line. Pulling 80+% though.

voted for Sanders as if my vote counted for anything. now let's vote out bad reality tv shows.

Which 4?

Even if you grant that Cheney is the one who masterminded the worst nadirs of GW's presidency, GW despite being clearly unintelligent as presidents go isn't enough of a complete and utter moron to be utterly oblivious to what was being done in his own plain sight, decorum be damned; he is criminally complicit at the very least, and his sins and culpability concerning the 2007 financial crisis (yes he wasn't directly responsible, but he chose non-intervention over action), mass surveillance and the wars he was so seminal in persecuting cannot be denied.

I do think Trump has skewed your perspective; I would consider GW easily worse than Trump as a president because I can't invest Trump with primary culpability concerning COVID-19 and the current riots though he does of course get full credit for mishandling them.

Surrealistik, beside only speaking of the family & their reputation, not specific policies or competencies, in my first post, and re-iterating this specifically in my second post, I'm now penning a third post to say I would welcome the Bush family into the Dem Party. I'm not nominating them for President. But we could use them in the Party, not the least - to beat Trump.

Trump can't even successfully deal with the politics of the protests. He'll never e able to handle the politics of cancelling an election.

I only caught Pennsylvania, I wasn't paying enough attention but heard Pa. But these were cancellations due to coronavirus. One state's primary held today had over 1800 people last year, but this year just 107 people or so showed up. But in some other state they had a line of people circling the block to vote.

I can't read the article, it's behind a pay wall, I only got the headline of the article.

In New York, officials canceled the state’s Democratic presidential primary, but a federal judge ordered that the election be held in June. Fifteen other states have rescheduled their contests because of the coronavirus.

I just wonder who would stop him? Does politics matter to him anymore? He has what he needs with those people supporting him and the military.

Congress & the States. Congress sets the date. The States determine the form. The executive branch has nothing to do with it.

Maybe the saddest voter of all; the one whose candidate had his achilles severed by the DNC twice.

All so the money that decides these things can take one last shot for the New Democrats; the neoliberal globalists and monied liberal elites.

I agree that G.W. was a very bad president, however if Trump gets 4 more years, he could easily surpass G.W. in "awfulness"

Hey, we'll take him! Have him bring his buddies. The more, the merrier!
Sure he'll bring along Rumsfeld and Chaney.

Frankly, and with all due respect, I have no use for historically terrible presidents in my coalition that think nothing of egregiously infringing upon fundamental rights and liberties, and wasting trillions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of lives in the pursuit of futile and counterproductive endeavours.
