Political positions of Joe Biden - Wikipedia

Joe Biden served as the Vice President of the United States from 2009 to 2017 and in the United States Senate from 1973 until 2009. He made his second run for President of the United States in the 2008 presidential election as a Democrat, later being announced as Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's running mate in 2008. He was elected Vice President in 2008 and reelected in 2012. In April 2019, Biden announced his campaign for president of the United States (his third presidential campaign, after unsuccessful campaigns for the Democratic nomination in 1988 and 2008).[SUP][1][/SUP] He became the presumptive Democratic nominee in April 2020, and will face Republican incumbent Donald Trump in the November 2020 election.[SUP][2][/SUP]

Isn't it time for discussion of results and issues? Questions I have for Joe Biden

Question 1: During your career you have, or had, the power to change many of the things you now say are wrong with America. Why didn’t you?

Question 2 (for Joe Biden): You and President Obama, for a time, had a Democratic majority in Congress. Why didn’t you reform immigration laws and address homelessness? Your administration deported a lot of people who were in the country illegally, so why criticize President Trump for wanting to follow your example? Do our laws mean nothing?

Question 3: During the second debate, you raised your hand when asked if you would provide free health care to immigrants who are here illegally. Aren’t you inviting even more to come to America with such a policy, and wouldn’t that add to our already staggering debt? Follow-up: Trump said we should take care of Americans first. Why would you use American tax dollars to pay for people who break our laws?

Question 4: Is there anything Trump has done that you could praise? Many of you talk as if unemployment hasn’t declined — especially for minorities — and wages haven’t risen. Unemployment is at, or near, record lows and wages are up.

Question 5: The Democratic Party believes raising taxes again is a good idea, but with $22 trillion in federal debt and with record amounts of revenue already coming into Washington, isn’t the real problem uncontrolled spending? Follow-up: Are there any government programs you would cut or eliminate?

I cannot answer for Biden, so I will answer for me.

1. Me? no. I have never had much power to change society.

2. In my opinion, health care was the bigger need. This whole scare about illegal immigration is just nativism packaged in a more socially acceptable format. Its not really an issue.

3. I never watched the debate

4. I like his whole thing about making federal buildings look nicer.

5. Taxes should be raised on those who get more from society (those who are more well off) and spending should largely match revenues unless there is a war or something equally dire. So its both not enough taxes and too much spending in my opinion. I would cut giving the police military surplus equipment

Massive debt and massive unemployment under trump.

Isn't it time for discussion of results and issues? Questions I have for Joe Biden

Question 1: During your career you have, or had, the power to change many of the things you now say are wrong with America. Why didn’t you?

What do you call the ACA? A pretty good start. The uninsured rate has dropped to below 10% for the first time in its history, and public health measures are starting to show it. We are even starting to catch up to Bangladesh!

Illegal immigration to the US peaked in 2007 under George W. Bush. The Obama administration lowered it dramatically. There is a reason Obama was known as the "deporter in chief". Trump has just used this as a political issue with uninformed and racially prejudiced voters to make it sound like he is doing something extra. It's just political noise and demagoguery.

Even POWs get medical treatment in wartime.

Question 4: Is there anything Trump has done that you could praise? Many of you talk as if unemployment hasn’t declined — especially for minorities — and wages haven’t risen. Unemployment is at, or near, record lows and wages are up.

OK. Trump was able to continue the trends that we started for a short while.

Question 5: The Democratic Party believes raising taxes again is a good idea, but with $22 trillion in federal debt and with record amounts of revenue already coming into Washington, isn’t the real problem uncontrolled spending? Follow-up: Are there any government programs you would cut or eliminate?

Yes. Once we were able to save the country from the greatest recession in its history, we had started cutting spending and trying to get back to cutting the deficit.

Who Is The Smallest Government Spender Since Eisenhower? Would You Believe It's Barack Obama?

As far as your followup: the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were costing up to $1 trillion dollars/yr. Nice thing we were able to stop that hemorrhage, huh?

So in the run up to the election... We simply pretend things aren't the way they are?

That's a... Most novel approach.

Biden did have the power to change society, what did he do with it?

So you believe 50 states with 50 different tax structures and cost of living shouldn't be handling their own healthcare issues? Where is that defined in the Constitution, Mr. Biden??

3. I never watched the debate

Thank you for the Honest answer, Mr. Biden so then what you are telling me is that you are a "white board" like Obama where you can be whatever the public wants you to be? Isn't that pure politics?
4. I like his whole thing about making federal buildings look nicer.

Thank you, Mr. Biden but how does that make life better for the American people?

So Mr. Biden, you don't believe all income earning Americans should be paying something to live in this country and for their own benefits? Not enough taxes and not enough spending?? Thank you Mr. Biden for destroying the Constitution and showing how radical the left has become. Do you, Mr. Biden, feel that the rich should fund everyone else's personal responsibility issues and since you are a multi millionaire what have you done to fulfill that obligation that you support?

Yes, a great start that led to the loss of the House to Obama in 10-12-14-16 and the Senate in 14-16. Seems personal choice only matters to the left when it comes to abortion and not other personal responsibility issues. Mr. Biden, why did you and Obama lose the House in those years if ACA was so popular?

So Mr. Biden, you haven't answered the question, you had total control of the Congress in 2009/2010 why didn't you solve the immigration problem? What makes you think you can it now?

Even POWs get medical treatment in wartime.

So Mr. Biden would that be a federal or state responsibility to provide medial care for illegals?

OK. Trump was able to continue the trends that we started for a short while.

So what trends would those be, Mr. Biden, the declining dollar growth in GDP, 2014-2015-2016? How about it Mr. Biden what part of your GDP Growth was due to gov't spending vs. consumer spending and which one indicates successful economic policies?

Yes. Once we were able to save the country from the greatest recession in its history, we had started cutting spending and trying to get back to cutting the deficit.

So Mr. Biden, your stimulus package was passed almost day one on your Administration and signed by President Obama in February, how is it we still lost 4 million jobs in 2009, only recovered 1 million in 2010 and didn't get back to pre recession levels until 2014? Can you explain Mr. Biden how you brought us out of recession in June 2009 before any of your Stimulus money was spent? Can you explain TARP to us, Mr. Biden and what effect that had on the recession?

As far as your followup: the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were costing up to $1 trillion dollars/yr. Nice thing we were able to stop that hemorrhage, huh?

thank you, Mr. Biden, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were supported by the Senate with a bipartisan vote and the status of forces agreement in Iraq was signed in November 2008. Can you explain that that status of forces agreement provided?

Mr. Biden, can you explain for us what your vote in October 2002 regarding the Iraq War

So this is what they mean by conservatives living in the past.

This is what it means to be a liberal, blame game against the President of the United States and ignoring the Democratic response. Typical liberal response, diversion and attacks on Trump in a Biden thread

Joe Biden is not a member here (that I am aware of).

The question is for Pro Biden supporters, don't see a lot of them which isn't surprising. Think the hate rhetoric against Trump is going to drive people to the polls for the alternative?

Another liberal who doesn't understand economic results vs pandemic results. What was the Democratic position and Mr. Biden's on this issue?

Trump owns this mess

pre pandemic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 2020 POTUS general election is post pandemic. FY 2020 federal revenue is down, federal deficit spending (thus national debt increase) is up (we are on track to have an effectively negative federal taxation rate) and unemployment is at record high levels. Granted that some improvement is likely before November 2020, but not nearly enough for Trump to tout "his" economy as being reason to keep him in office.

The "best ever" trade deal with China is falling apart and we are still plodding along with our military playing world policeman (and nation builder) in the ME. We will also likely see congress critters (unanimously?) pass yet another massive federal deficit spending "phase" (or two) to bailout the state/local governments which are also experiencing record losses in tax revenue.

IMHO, Joe "where am I?" Biden will become POTUS if (when?) Trump (like you?) tries to tell us about the 'good old days' prior to the pandemic (and race riots?). It is also quite likely that the recent massive "protests" over the latest (state/local) police abuse of force will cause a spike in COVID-19 cases, further slowing the planned "V shaped" economic recovery that Trump so desperately needs.

Yes it is and the alternative would be Joe Biden, what is Biden's position on the pandemic and what was the democratic position on the pandemic. The good ole days prior to the pandemic were based upon economic policies and principles, we will be getting back to those eventually and what is it in the Biden resume that supports the belief that he will be able to return to those principles?

What I continue to notice here is that the 24/7 anti Trump rhetoric rears its head again in a thread about Joe Biden showing just how much vitriol there is by radicals against Trump.

I believe the American people are smart enough to understand the difference between pre pandemic economic policies/results and actual pandemic economic results. If they aren't we get another multi millionaire public servant with zero private sector experience thus returning us to the Obama/Biden Malaise and poor economic performance all out of hatred for Trump. Don't believe that is going to happen thus this thread and discussion of Biden

As compared to what? Trump is counting on a (miraculous?) "V shaped" recovery which is very unlikely to occur prior to the 2020 POTUS general election. I suspect that China may make a move on Hong Kong and/or Taiwan while the US is both broke (from COVID-19) and has the military still busy playing world policeman and nation builder elsewhere.
