Are the Democrats serious when they say Bernie, Biden, Liz, Amy, Micheal, can unite the country?

After so much divisiveness from the democrats attacking Trump and Trump voters and supporters, do democrats really think one of their terrible candidates can unite the country?
I don't see it. The social and political differences seem to be so enormous that how is a democrat going to make republicans happy? The democrats have screamed all type of accusations against democrats for voting and supporting Trump and now one of their candidates who have policies totally opposite of the republicans and I don't see that changing.

They can't be any worse than trump at "uniting the country".

I'm absolutely serious when I say that not one of them would destroy this country or take it over like Trump has.

Of course they can't "unite the country". But it doesn't matter. They don't have to. They'll get their media propaganda machine to say "the country is united" and expect everyone to believe that as the truth.

We've become so polarized, divided, hyper partisan that no one person elected president could ever unit this country. Who ever wins the other party will be out to destroy him or her.

Don't worry, if either of them wins, the search for a birth cert begins anew.

And then they’ll turn and attack Mexicans, blacks, women, Muslims, refugees, the media, the DOJ, the FBI, and on and on. Their evil is boundless.

On the other hand, Trump’s rhetoric unites the country as he said recently. Honest. He actually said that. Stop laughing, he did. You can look it up.

The stooges will never unite.

They can't do any worse that than mobbed up whore twump.

I believe what the candidates are really counting on is not a great moral rejection of Trump and all he stands for. Rather, they're hoping to drive the electorate with appeals to fear, knowing that on occasion even relatively popular presidents can be toppled by something that makes the people distrust them. Bush Senior was hurt by all the "no new taxes" gibes, even though it's been frequently said that he didn't break his promise: what changed-- and what his opponents took advantage of-- was a change in tax rates. Others here may have more specific memories of the imbroglio, but my point is that the party that wants "in" will always try cattle-stampeding tactics.

is the OP a Trump supporter who is playing the victim card?

I don't disagree with this, but it does not apply to Trump. Trump makes us distrust him. No fear involved.

No, Biden, Bloomberg, Warren, klobuchar, Gabbard can't. On the other hand you have Bernie winning support of democrats, and independents because of good debates and town hall appearances. In one specific insatnce of a town hall hosted by FOX news (a predominantly republican channel) he turned the entire audience to his favor by calmly explaining what his medicare for all actually means instead of what the media makes you think it is (they say it's his magical solution to all of the problems of America) and that is a single payer system like the rest of the world uses. Meanwhile his republican anti- establishment counterpart Donald Trump calls him a communist, abuses his power in the court while pleaing for his friends and killing foreign foreign generals, then condemning the response of said foreign countries threatening with disproportionate responses, basically leading an entire country into war on his own.

I Bernie is the one who will start an economical revolution for thr working class, middle class, lower class and the rich wether they like it or not.

PS. Andrew Yangs UBI is also a point Bernie could use to win the support of the fromer canidate Andrew Yang, whose voters are now siding with Tulsi Gabbard and Bernie. Eventually Tulsi will drop out and her supporters will aslo need a canidate to support, hence Bernie!

I’m not sure which is worst. Calling the Trump supporters deplorable or calling the Dems supporters stupid (as you appear to be doing here). People of different political persuasions vote their conscience, sincerely believing their particular candidate will be the best for them and the nation. We can disagree with each other as to what that is and who can best achieve it but to suggest disagreeing makes the other person or persons deplorable or stupid only puts fuel to the fire of division.

Except for exploding taxation and they telling us it will not be enough and working their way down the tax rolls until they get enough to pay for their crazy plans. Problem is, they will never get enough. The plans they propose mostly would only create only a few hundred billion a year to pay for programs that are much more expensive than that. The only answer is to tax more people and at a higher rate.

YOu have zero credibility. No right winger has any talking about democrats being divisive. It's a complete lie, a projection of what republicans have done for decades now, and shows you really have no argument and these stupid posts are just meant to project and troll

There is no coming together with right wing scum that supports Trump. They are the Taliban, they are the minority, and the plan is to shove them back under their rocks.

We can work with the rational conservatives that don't support Trump. But the ignorant, racist, selfish, greedy hypocrites that support Trump can GFTS. WE don't negotiate with terrorists

A candidate has to run with the idea of uniting the country because the president is supposed to the be the president of all the people. Obviously, Trump and the Republicans don't feel that way, and they exploit our divisions. Bernie has a bit of that too.

But democracy cannot survive without acknowledging the legitimacy of one's political opponents. And any uniting must begin with that.

Sort of like Eisenhower and the socialist tax rate under which the country labored when he was president.

People voting for Trump don't have a conscience. Voting to discriminate against gays, lock kids in cages, build a stupid wall, giving away the entire country to the rich, and making the poor suffer even more is deplorable position.

This isn't a case of "just their opinion". Taliban and Al Qaeda would fit the same description, following their conscience, and they are deplorable as well

This isn't like past years of Republican president, who democrat may have hated, but at least they still acted presidential and so in those cases, yeah, its just opinion would fit. Trump is a POS, the people that support him have proven to be hateful, racist, selfish idiots who are complete hypocrites.

And they are hated for their words, their actions, their blind hatred, their hypocrisy, not just politics. That's what many conservatives do. They hate liberals for just being liberals, because they are brainwashed with a bunch of fake things about liberals that are no where close to true and they hate that.

Liberals hate conservative because of all the hateful , harmful things they do to others, selfishness, their blatant hypocrisy, and complete lack of empathy

Trump and his supporters have poisoned the well beyond the point of unity. Our goal is to run you over like a freight train. I can think of no better way to do that than to watch your boy get his ass handed to him by a Gay man or a socialist.

Sampson, reading through your response I see you admit there’s hate on both sides. You believe your side’s hate is justified while the other’s is not. Do you not see the disconnect here?

they can't say anything good about the president even when there is OBVIOUS good he has done and continues to do

that is dishonest as hell

and insults 40 % of the population or more

so much for the Ds uniting folks

Well, my post isn't so much about Trump as about his opponents. Trump unquestionably runs off at the mouth at a moment's notice. But in some ways, that makes him much "open" than his adversaries claim, when they claim that he's trying to create a new dictatorship and all that blather.

If that's the case then we're well on our way to official banana republic status. Once gang violence becomes consistent in this regard, we'll know for sure.
