Fascist Clown Alert | Common Dreams Further

"Trump just proposed a cruel, stupid, deeply immoral budget, "a knife in the back" to millions of poor and working families that would gut Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, health care, food stamps, veterans' services and other vital safety net programs by $800 billion - or $4.4 trillion over a decade - in order to give added billions to fat cats, more war and his stupid wall."

"This came mere days after repeatedly vowing he "will not be touching" those programs, which is kinda like when he swore he wasn't touching those dozens of women who charged him with sexual abuse and harassment, or he promised that Mexico (not hungry American kids) would pay for the wall, or he boasted "the blacks" love him, or any of his other 16,000 lies, never mind his economic numbers are fiction and the Secret Service/we are paying $650 a night and $17,000 a month in US tax dollars at his sleazy hotels and his kids have made over $100 million by selling their name and... "

The buffoon who calls women dogs, pigs, lowlifes, who can't manage his cringy makeup let alone an economy, who boasts a lifetime of cons - fake bone spurs, taxes, success, charity, election, acquittal - is a fake human being, through and through.

This is not mainstream media. It's a sneering and ridiculing TDS blog. There's not an original thought in it - just ranting against Trump.

Please go have your fake little tantrum somewhere else. Because if you think that you're in any position of moral judgment in this case, then you're sorely mistaken.

"Facist"Trump.

Everybody,
DRINK UP!

The word 'fascist' seems to be used with increasing frequency these days. It's usually as a pejorative in an attempt to muddy or smear a person's character. Let's set it aside, shall we?

Rather, we can develop a list of the things that strong men/dictators of the past have done during their rise to power. We can pay particular attention to those who've overthrown or severely distorted the governments of democracies. Then, given that list, itself amenable to historic verification, we can compare present-day government heads and head wannabe's.

The term 'fascist' used here is appropriate.

Ordinarily, you and I don’t agree much.

But we do here.

I don’t read Common Dreams or Democracy Now, Huffpost or Daily Kos (or their ilk) for just that reason.

While I may sometimes agree with the point of view, I prefer to have the facts presented in a straightforward manner, rather than the “hair of fire” tone of far left media (or for that matter, the much more prevalent and much noisier right wing media).

Donald Trump thinks like a Facist (although I doubt that he could give you an intelligence definition of racism).

He is fully invested in his creation, the cult of personality he has built around himself. (One of the tenants of racism).

He has open contempt for the rule of law, and for pesky things like Congressmen and courts.

He denigrates minorities as a way of giving his base something to feel superior to, and to distract them from what he is doing.

He is corrupt to the core.

He has cooped media and financial institutions.

He has all but declared himself absolute ruler.

And there is little doubt that Bill Barr is even now working on a convoluted legal rationalization for Trump when he does.

And when he does, the organs of the right wing propoganda machine will be there to get the bobble heads cheering for their fuhrer (as they have been for three years).

As for developing lists, I can make that much easier for you.

Study the rise of Adolf Hitler in Weimar Germany. Concentrate on the period from 1928 till he finally got power in 1933.

Trump followed every single step, and used all of the same strategies.

Democracy died in Germany ultimately because Hitler had already sold grievance politics to the working classes (which is the core of Trumpism, both message and target). Hitler denigrated a minority (Jews), ready made for the part. Trump is doing the same thing with his wall.

Hitler’s big move was winning the support of press barons, just as Trump is cozy with Rupert Murdoch and his star Shawn Hannity.

Hitler got the Social Democrats to form a coalition government, fooling them into thinking they could control him. Just as Trump co opted and then destroyed the GOP from within.

Trump just got the GOP Senate to endorse his claim that he has “absolute immunity” from investigation, subpoena, or questioning. Barr has already affirmed his intention to insure that the sitting President cannot be indicted. (Except by impeachment).

And as soon as McConnell held the votes to endorse his rule, Trump has started openly asserting power he does not have for strictly self serving political purposes.

really? You can complain about the tone but you cant complain about the veracity. There are links in the editorial to legitimate news articles. the right media has the same tone (or worse) based on lies. There simply is no "equal but opposite" of the right wing media.

Agreed, so we're left with tone. At what point does tone become more effectual than truth? Trump has power over people because tone has eliminated the very need for truth. One thing Trump doesn't lie about; his absolute control over and the childlike malleability of his base. Believe him when he talks about shooting people on 5th Av.

Angry journalism should be rejected. From either side, regardless of the veracity of reporting.

Just a suggestion; If you are not going to use the quote feature, you might want to use the indent feature to make more of a distinction between what you are quoting and that of your commentary.
