The differences in the parties over politics and power are forever divided to the point of no return. To see the attempts by one party to remove an elected President because they don't like him is amazing. The other side seems to be just as dug in to defend the President and the people will suffer, for a long long time.

The left would never allow any compromise............**** em.

I don't think that is true. I think it's quite possible to heal if we as The People learn to put behind some of the partisan BS. It's quite possible to heal, but we have to allow ourselves to behave like adults. That does seem like quite the daunting challenge at this state, but it's possible.

This is something the right will have to contend with, the pain and guilt of bringing this country back 200 years. If this country does happen to survive Trump, there will be some years of 'reconstruction' necessary, just as it was post Civil War. There will definitely be some new amendments to the Constitution regarding guidelines for the impeachment of a sitting president.

IM, it's more the issues than the partisanship.

Is anybody surprised by the dumb, predictable projection from right wingers? This is what the Taliban does, constantly project. Try to claim both sides. Screw that, republicans are the scumbags here, plain and simple. project and troll all you want, Trump is dangerous and guilty

Scumbag republicans set the precedent with their cover up and attempt to cover up, their refusal to do their jobs (like McCConnel in impeachment hearing and with Obama's SCOTUS pick), not even voting on hundreds of bills passed in house, and ramming in unqualified, right wing hacks into the courts.

So **** your stupid projection right wingers

Blah blah blah!

Anything that doesn't go your way, and you go straight to your usual hyperbole filled rants.

200 years!

New amendments!

Reconstruction even!

Pain & guilt!

I disagree. But if there can be any chance of healing, the fascists and the populists must engage in some deep introspection of their own selves and their political movements.

So far, they have shown zero evidence of doing so.

Come on, there is no debate to be had if you want to make this complicated issue so simplistic.

Pelosi resisted calls on the left to impeach Trump for various reasons (emoluments clause, bank/tax fraud, obstruction, etc). Pelosi did not force Trump to make that Ukraine phone call. No Democrat forced Trump to say to Zelenski, "We need you to do us a favor though!" No one forced him to send his own personal lawyer to Ukraine to try and dig up dirt on a political rival and abuse his power of the presidency to pressure Ukraine to announce an investigation.

Summarizing Schiff: "I really screwed up the House hearings badl. Bbut you know as I told you I get super tired if I have to work an entire day. So it's not my fault I forgot to get subpoenas and call witnesses I wanted, and it was so late in the day for the Federal Court hearing on my subpoenas I had issued that I had to cancel them. I'm sure you all have your mid day 4 hour naps too.

So, Republican Senators, I need YOU to help ME do the job I did NOT do to get rid of Trump. Come on, you goddamn evil, corrupt, stupid Republican Senators, you gotta help me out!

Oh yeah, and don't even THINK about Joe Biden testifying. That article of impeachment actually is irrelevant."

Schiff and Schumer thought they had a win win situation by not taking the time use the courts to get to their witnesses.

They knew they could get more attention to this sham by screaming on the networks and getting lots of face time.

I would love to see Bolton called to the Senate by the democrats, and both Biden's called before the Senate by the republicans..

a two tribe system is doomed to failure, IMO, as we are still angry primates operating in a binary "us / them" model when it comes to pretty much every contentious thing from politics to navigating traffic.

We'll need to agree on what reality is.

Lots of folks who think it's smarter to trust Putin and his security services than to trust the US Intelligence Community.

The Trump right will never reconcile.

It must be destroyed politically.

The Ukraine phone call pulled the curtain back from the hum bug.

Every time I remind someone of that, John Milius receives an electric shock.

I've heard this very thing repeated by Republicans, the so called "Never Trump" wing, most of whom are now "former" Republicans because they were drummed out for "disloyalty" to Trump.

Some of them have even suggested that it may be necessary for them to even do the unthinkable:
Support a Democratic POTUS win AND Democratic majorities in Congress, in order to FORCE the GOP to destroy and rebuild itself.

What buggers me more however, is the fact that Democrat establishment moguls should have interpreted their own staggering loss in 2016 (GOP TRIFECTA!) as a signal to rebuild themselves.
Clearly a mediocre neoliberal centrist with an arrogant elitist approach to the proles was the losing combination, because enough people voted AGAINST Hillary that it should have sent a clear message.

Which the DNC elite seem hell bent on ignoring.
If it were up to me, I would interpret Hillary's loss in 2016 as a clear signal to rejigger Democratic priorities and platforms to more closely hew to liberal positions, NOT push even further to the right.

I disagree, as long as both sides continue to try and control one another at the federal level rather than coexist there will be no end to it and inevitably lead to a civil war.

There is no saving America people. You are witnessing the end game that will end in total destruction of America. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the ride. I say two, maybe three months at the maximum.

This is actually fairly tame to historians.

The gloves on both sides have been off for a while. Revenge is the main thing motivating both parties.

What I found Hilarious was Hillary Clinton's campaign theme of "Stronger Together" where apparently that only was about the left being stronger together and everyone else were deplorables.

LOL. While the left are currently distrusting the US Intelligence Community.
