Anybody left still willing to defend impeachment???

Yes the economy is booming. As far as peace, not so much., and I can agree the Green New Deal is over the top.

A communist revolution and depression is more than over the top; its a reflection of the liberal IQ and capacity for treason.

this is debatepolitics so I'm asking you for a reason or for their reason. Too embarrassing to present???

If you don't know what the charges are in the articles of impeachment, you should look it up.

I have stated imo the case is weak and political. One only needs to look at how the vote went.

I don't. I'm serious, how did he obstruct congress?

by not collapsing and giving them all the information they wanted and by maintaining separation of powers

why do you say weak rather than stupid or irrational????

Happy New Year.

Why did you choose stupid or irrational? One could use brainless, unthinking, obtuse and preposterous, demented, unthinking.

You might as well ask why anyone uses the words they do.

The Cultists are in the House trying hard to make any sort of case that can stick. Now they tell us they need witnesses. To a crime that thus far none of us know of.

being against a cult is not being in a cult. as for witnesses, i support calling Tweety himself in order to get him really involved in the process like he wants. under oath, of course.

To be entirely fair, obstruction of Congress involves a judgement about the degree to which someone is not being cooperative. Someone arguably can point out that there is ample precedent of the White House refusing to hand over documents and that the normal course of action would be to force the administration to hand over the required document by appealing to a court of law. From this point of view, the charge of obstruction of Congress is an overstatement. I'm not saying that refusing to cooperate was entirely legitimate. I am saying that disputes over whose authority overrides the other cannot be settled by one of the two parties involved in the dispute.

You may disagree if you want, but the fact that I can make that kind of claim at all shows what is wrong with the charge of obstruction: it's weak because it involves a judgement about proper procedure.

What Democrats have right now consists largely of conjectures and those conjectures do not even concern actual crimes. Obstruction of Congress and abuse of power attacks Donald Trump on the basis that he failed to live up to the standing of his office and to the oath he took -- in their opinion. You may believe that Donald Trump actually did what they accuse him to have done, that is wrong and that the reason they only have conjectures is because he refused to share information voluntarily. Even then, those are not crimes and invoking the power of impeachment on those grounds is highly irregular. It has never been before -- all other cases involved crimes.

I don't believe House Democrats are trying to make an honest case that Donald Trump has behaved in a manner unfit for a President. From where I sit, Democrats have been trying to get Donald Trump out ever since he was sworn into office. They pushed for an investigation on the election that has dragged on for over two years. In spite of not having been able to pin him over their allegations, some of them still peddle the story that he cheated his way into office. And now, this? Tlaib posted a video of herself on her way to vote for impeachment, smiling and laughing. Many Democrats couldn't keep a straight face during the vote. This has absolutely nothing to do with protecting the Constitution. It is a partisan effort.

If they really believed they were on to something, they'd wait for courts to force the White House to cooperate, so they had more information and, if they were right, they could force at least some Republicans to vote their way. I don't know what kind of game they think they're playing, but the whole idea behind the impeachment investigation and vote was stupid. They are not helping their chances, but they did manage to run hell of a fund raiser for Republicans.

I've been saying this for well over a year now: stop playing the "Orange Man Bad" narrative. It doesn't work. The only thing they're doing is insulting the moderate voters they need. While they generate narratives that get spun on social media into what Obama aptly called circular firing squads, Republicans are sitting, laughing and taking in anyone who's tired of the nonsense. Hell, they're even driving their own politicians away.

here's a good article to ignore. my suggestion is to dismiss it outright. that's quicker and less boring for both of us.

Democrats announce articles of impeachment: Is Trump guilty? - Vox

then there's the whole abuse of power thing, which is beyond debate. the take home is that he deserved to be impeached, won't be convicted, and the whole process was predictably pointless. when one side utterly refuses to hold him accountable and in fact is willing to do little other than lavish him with loyalty, you aren't going to succeed at a Senate conviction. and even if by some completely unpredictable twist you manage it, you get incumbent Pence and a super pissed off Tweety base. derp.

as for your suggestion advising me to be less presidential, no thanks.

- Trump vs. some of the Dems candidates is a choice between two evils. So yes, with Trump there is evil. What candidate running for the Dems nomination represents no evil?

- Of course the items I mentioned won't make the platform. The DNC has to play to the majority of independents and democrats. But if a candidate that promotes them gets elected as President, want to bet it doesn't come up as a President initiative.? What is some of Warren's first 100 day promises.?

I think I'll wait for the candidate and their platform before I start wringing my hands. In any case the "worst" Democrat doesn't want to change our Beloved Country and it's Constitution like tRump's handlers and his henchmen do; if they have their way the United States, as we know it, will cease to be.

worst??? Peace and booming economy!!!!!!! And, he's the bulwark, the second coming of Christ, who protects us from the Green New Deal Great Communist Depression and Revolution.

Good lord do you sleep with a night light and have a lock on your closet door; now I know why you're on my ignore list. tRump is the second coming of Christ???? :doh

Dear Jesus, save me from Christians!

Half the country, more than 63 million voters, support removal from office.

The President extorted a foreign President with approved military aid for fake news of personal benefit.

Still pushing that same lie I see.

You still standing by that Rense blog?

To my knowledge Rense made no such blog, or are you still playing by your Epstein like tactics?

Then again, you're also the only one obsessed with Rense.

Apologies, I should have added something in all retrospect. Hitler's Military - Amazing Diversity Of Nationalities

Though I am not sure about citations at this moment, seeing as I have just been reading about it, and not looking for raw statistics. Many of the cases are from first hand accounts though, and other WWII survivors.

That article begins, "Prove that the holocaust happened. With all the millions of innocent men, women, and children that the Zionists have killed, we are to be so concerned over an alleged 6 million Jews?"

Still crying about that time I used one Rense blog to hand you your ass huh?

You really need to learn to take time and find something else to do in your life eco. I mean you can go back to worshiping Epstein again, though he has been gone for a while now... to each his own I guess.

You still have my permission to cry about it by the way.

Now if you don't mind. I suggest that you don't pull up arguments from the basement, that you willingly dragged down there only to lose them, just like you were before you committed to the fall.

Honestly I'm kind of tired of repeatedly beating you over the head with this loss that you suffer, simply because you weren't smart enough to read between the lines and acknowledge your own inconsistencies.

I know which is one reason why I resist Democrats over their hateful ways of trying to cram their crap down our throats.

as long as he just gets in there and tells the truth (under oath) for twelve or so hours, he'll be fine.

It's not my ass showing.

Seeing as you are still crying about it, I'd have to say that it still is your ass that showing here, by your own hand as it were.

Hell, I've already explained this for you three times and you still come back crying about taking a simple L on the fact that you can't see what's right in front of your face.

Give it a rest eco. I'm tired of watching you make a fool of yourself over and over again.

It was just a phone call in furtherance of long standing quid pro quo US policy: aid for anti-corruption. Its insanity to try to impeach him for doing his job and for hoping to benefit personally from doing a good job as any politician does all the time. Trump should be congratulated not impeached?

It is insanity to think for one second Trump was doing his job by withholding aid Congress had already approved until a whistleblower report came out 51 days - longer than the required 45 - later. If you don't think it is a crime, you don't know what happened.

Help me out here what specifically does Trump want to change in the Constitution?

I can't recall the Senate calling live witnesses.

The creeps in the House are not impeaching Trump for holding back the Stash.
