Cory Booker on Kamala Harris' Exit From Democratic Race:

"We started with one of the most diverse fields in our history. It's a damn shame that the only African American woman in this race is no longer in it, and we're spiraling toward a debate stage without a single person of color."

I'm having a hard time deciding if Booker considers this merely an observation or a problem And if the latter, what Booker proposes as a solution.

Comments?

It still is the most diverse field in history.

Our continual use of identity politics will cause irreparable harm to the social climate of this nation.

He definitely sees it as a big problem.

And if the latter, what Booker proposes as a solution.

He probably wants racial quotas for presidential candidates.

That's what I'm afraid of, too.

Harris ran a formidable campaign, and a racially diverse collection of candidates IS noteworthy. But no one can say precisely why her campaign ultimately was not successful. It must be frustrating for her and Booker, too, that the number one choice of most African American voters is an old white guy, but that's hardly anyone's fault.

Hmm... isn't Warren (sometimes?) a female person of color?

A vile, iniquitous reptile like Harris is no friend of the black community -- and they know it.

Tulsi only scratched the surface then she destroyed Harris on stage. That was one of the most beautiful moments ever recorded on national television.

They started their debates waaaaaaaaaaay too early

Yang is still in the race and he's Asian.

You just have to promise voters more free stuff.

What we should really be talking about are the candidates who failed and why. I don't think Harris and Booker have been struggling because of their skin color, but rather it's their inability to have their ideas resonate with likely voters. I feel the same way about Julian Castro, who has laid blame at the media's feet regarding her campaign's failure. That's not to say being a minority candidate is easy, but if you're going into an important political race like this one, you have to have ideas that are going to have wide range appeal. You are representing your party, and if you win, your entire country.

Myself, I'm still really lookin' forward to that free border wall that Mexico will pay for.

Fair points.

It's also simply sheer numbers. It's much harder to define yourself when there are 20+ candidates. I'm a lifelong Democrat, and there was no single point in time when I could have told you every candidate who was running, or even in the debates.

Maybe it has less to do with the color of their skin than it does the quality of the candidate.

It still is the most diverse field in history.

well it is in some ways. It is like the Clinton Cabinet

a bunch of people with different ethnicities, income levels and sexual preferences

who all think almost exactly the same way

Color over quality is the name of the game for Democrats.

He's right in that it's a shame that there won't be a black woman on stage. But it's still a very diverse field.

That's the name of the game? I guess that explains why the Democrats were clearly favoring Harris and Booker over, oh I don't know, Biden and Warren and Sanders, and why the DNC tossed their support behind those two, and why they were leading in the polls. Right?

There isn't any quality in the Democrat field. I rest my case.

They do the same thing with Gender. People didnt NOT vote for Hillary because she is a woman...they didnt vote for her because she is a piece of ****.

Yeah, I think a big field has its drawbacks. What you pointed out about keeping track of candidates is definitely one point; it's why you have to stand out from the very beginning. The other issue is how it hampers the debates because the candidates have to limit their answers and there's less time to ask probing questions.

Wow. And I'm sure everyone on this board was waiting for you to tell them which Democrat you planned to vote for against Trump, too.

How do his dirty tighty whities taste today?
