GOP Counsel Stephen Castor

Bitterness well deserved. I feel that her 'hurt' was palpable.
Im sure everyone on the left shares your same subjective opinion while those on the right disagree

It's clear she was dismayed. It appears she assumed her term in service would never end. She must have been upset and it's clear she still is. She is lapping up the thanks and sympathy and I'm sure it's personally gratifying for her to have her grievances heard on such a large stage.
But...what the hell does this have to do with impeaching and removing Trump?
Her head tells her she serves at the pleasure of the President, but her heart told her that no one had the right to relieve her of her position.
Clearly.

It's pretty clear that you have no concept of integrity and dedication it takes to hold a career in foreign service. This wasn't a 'job'. Marie Yovanovitch served this country for 33 years in the foreign service because of her deep commitment to our country. She wasn't the kind of ambassador that Gordon Sondland is. Marie Yovanovitch was a career ambassador. She was sent to the most challenging and most dangerously corrupt embassies. She has been assigned Moscow, London, and Mogadishu before Ukraine, which was perhaps one of the most difficult embassies of all.

Campaign donors like Gordon Sondland, who got his appointment because he donated a million dollars to Trump's campaign, get assignments that are powder-puff assignments, like an ambassadorship to a Caribbean country, or as ambassador to the EU.

Unfortunately, because of people like yourself, the U.S. is far less safe because you see no value in a dedicated American patriot working on our behalf of our country and democracy such as Ukraine.

Let me give you the Cliff Notes version of what this is all about. Marie Yovanovich got fired because Rudy told Trump he needed to do that to get an investigation started to smear Joe Biden.

So you admit that she would of opposed the presidents agenda?

Obama filled the Ambassador ranks with campaign donors as was his prerogative.

Trump fires this lady, so she's hurt, angry, and petulant.

Where was she when her party boss was using the Ukraine's shenanigans with the Biden's.

Was that the media applauding at the end of the hearing?

Oops!

CASTOR: I have no idea what any of this is about
YOVANOVICH: I can keep explaining it to you
CASTOR: With all due respect, ambassador, learning about true stuff that actually happened is not why we’re here

:doh

But...what the hell does this have to do with impeaching and removing Trump.

Because her removal was one of the objectives of Trump’s shadow foreign policy run by Giuliani. She wasn’t removed for any legitimate reason. She was viewed as an impediment to their attempts to pressure the Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 election - especially after her Embassy denied Shokin a visa for lying on his application.

I dont think she was wronged. In her own she indicates she did not agree with the presidents policy snd that she would not of handled things the way they were handled had she remained in that position. Thats grounds for being replaced.

Clearly she had no qualms with Ukraine's meddling in the 2016 election and heavily favoring Hillary Clinton, as did she.

Yup, you've just summed up career government leeches who burrow in like ticks, and who feel that their career on the taxpayer dole is uniquely deserved until THEY alone decide when to exit stage left.
I don't give rat's arse if, how and why she was fired. That's not spending my tax dollars well. An entire day wasted on this utter ****.

And for God's sake, if a woman who is cowed and soils herself over Trump's bluster on twitter is supposed to keep me safe, then I'm glad Trump had the foresight to remove her.

What part of "serves at the pleasure of the President" has a "legitimate as determined by Trump haters" clause?

But you're okay with your tax dollars being used for extortion of a foreign government to investigate a United States citizen.

The overall issue being investigated is abuse of power. Firing an ambassador in furtherance of criminal pursuits is an abuse of the power in question. This hast to be repeated so many times because the Trump boot lickers have candy floss for brains.

To add to that since i posted i learned the ukrain president also expressed concerns with her being the ambassador.

On the contrary. I take it to assume that after 33 years as a dedicated foreign service emissary, she was dismayed to be relieved abruptly of her post without due cause or any conceivable reason to be removed.

I suspect any one in her kind of post with that kind of experience is probably kryptonite to biased assholes as dealing effectively with that kind of person is part of the job description. That is why the first two days of public testimony have gone so well.

Silly me, I thought it was the latest buzz word, "bribery". There is ZERO evidence that Trump fired an Ambassador for that reason. Zero. Did you listen to her testimony?
Today was a big goose egg.
Oh and p.s. every single President has boot lickers. I think Yovanovich still has the taste of Obama's in her mouth.

It does seem unfair, but my God, that comes with the territory. It's not a tenured position and she seems to believe her Ambassadorship was just that.

O come on. Trump threatened her then and trashed her today. The issue is/was never that she thought the position was tenured. What in her statements today suggested that?

What was the threat? What did he threaten?

No she doesn't. During the hearing she said of course she understood that she worked at the pleasure of the president and he could replace her at anytime for any reason he pleased. But what she didn't understand is why he had to smear her reputation to do it. Publicly smearing and threatening a distinguished US ambassador for no good reason does not come with the territory...especially by a US president to another foreign leader.

She said Trump's phone call with Zelensky was very threatening...especially after he called her "a very bad person" and then said "she's going to go through some things."

Sounds as specific as a horoscope in the local paper. She got reassigned. Chris Stevens came home in a body bag.
This is what threatens a career diplomat?

There is also a procedure for removing and replacing Ambassadors. They are not told to get on the next plane as occurred here, for NO reason whatsoever other than Guiliani demanded it.

Trump defenders look dumber by the minute.

“Acadia is going to go through some bad things if he keeps posting here.”

Now forget the above is from my humble self, and think of it as coming from the most powerful person in the world.

It is extremely tricky to disparage a truthful sympathetic witness, but I notice you keep trying. It's not gonna work.

Is it really your position that since she disagreed with withholding military aid until a political investigation was embraced by the new president was grounds for replacement?
