The Republicans are going to have a real challenge finding any lawyer that rises up to the level that's required to question these deeply patriotic career foreign service individuals. These witnesses are of a caliber that they aren't accustomed to. Men like Taylor and Kent are polished, educated and experienced. They're also very succinct and clear in their answers, there's no attempts being made to hedge or evade direct questioning.

Republicans are accustomed to having a witness in front of them like Carter Page, Michael Cohen or Corey Lewandowski. They can't 'F' around and bully or push hard with career State Dept people. They better tread lightly when it's time to cross-examine Marie Yovanovitch or Fiona Hill because those women are very familiar with the personal challenges they've had to overcome being successful in what used to be a man's world.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) ripped Democrats’ impeachment witness Ambassador William Taylor on Wednesday as he deconstructed the narrative the Democratic Party has promoted surrounding President Donald Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

During one exchange, Jordan highlighted Taylor’s limited knowledge of the events about which he was testifying:

Jordan: You didn’t listen in on President Trump and Zelensky’s call?

Taylor: I did not.

Jordan: You’ve never talked with Chief of Staff Mulvaney?

Taylor: I never did.

Jordan: You’ve never met the president?

Taylor: That’s correct.

Jordan: You had three meetings again with Zelenksy and it didn’t come up … and President Zelensky never made an announcement. … and you’re their star witness.

Thread was in regard to GOP counsel Stephen Castor and his line of questioning. I think you should start your own thread if you want to laud Jim Jordan. I think I’ve learned that your technique is common to your side of the issue; deflection was the obvious strategy from the gavel on.
