In a new book, POTUS says Obama should be prosecuted for treason. Is this ultimately where Durham is headed with now criminal probe?

Treason has a very narrow legal definition and is used incorrectly by 90%+ people talking about it, including Trump here, use it incorrectly. The people accusing Trump of treason generally aren't describing an act that would actually be legally considered treason either.

Obama was technically out of government when Trump was sworn in.

It’s quite possible Hillary and Obama are guilty of sedition. It’s hard to believe Obama didn’t get wind of the spying, so he is at least an accomplice to Clinton, Inc., for a variety of crimes, but not treason or sedition.

Clapper and Brennan, and others on the other hand could be guilty of both if they were on the payroll ofter Trump took the oath.

BTW, if no one is prosecuted, then it will be legal for any other incumbent party to do the same thing, and the candidates will have to negotiate with the intelligence agencies to get their approval so the agencies don’t destroy their candidacy. (This is why I feel Brennan and Clapper will take the brunt of it)

I would not call it treason unless it can be shown his actions directly undermine a sitting president. In the past outgoing presidents have remained silent about their successor. Obama has not only spoken out against Trump but was involved in setting creating an organization to actively work against him.

I have a hard time seeing anything anyone's been accused of meeting the definition of sedition either.

That's something to keep in mind when trying to translate Trumpco marketing language to English.

I don't think "treason" is the appropriate word but I get the idea. Obama has his top subordinates have a lot to answer for, and the fact the inquiry has turned into a criminal investigation is significant. Neither Durham nor Barr has a reputation for shooting from the hip which indicates some significant misdeeds are suspected. It'd going to get interesting.

People have to understand that for political reasons* Barr will be happy with a token conviction of some, and throw the book at two, maybe three.

*if Barr is smart, he will make it short, sweet, clean and clipped, for the small publically known fish, and the two or three household names he puts his weight on are unmercifully crushed. (Brennan, Clapper, and Comey).

The country doesn’t need another theatrical performance.

I would like to point out that while you are posting about the possibility of Obama committing an act of treason...half of your avatar appears to be the battle flag of the former Confederate States of America, wherein entire states embarked on the treasonous act of rebellion against their own country, fired the first shots of a war that would claim the lives of over 660.000 people.

I find it ironic, given the position of your post.
