Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren has overtaken former Vice President Joe Biden in Iowa, according to a new Des Moines Register/CNN poll of the crucial state.

The poll out Saturday night found Warren was the top choice for the Democratic nomination with 22 percent support among likely caucus-goers, while Biden had the support of 20 percent of respondents. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders fell to third with 11 percent.

The poll was conducted of 602 likely Democratic caucus-goers from Sept. 14-18. The margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.

I think it seems that the selfie thing went a long way. Warren is mingling with her crowds while Trump just hovers over them like a king. People want someone they can have a beer with and that's how Warren launched her campaign. Trump doesn't have drinks with the little guy.

Warren is a good choice. She's articulate and passionate, quite a contrast with her opponent (should she get the nomination). She doesn't make gaffes like Biden does. The only thing the opposition has been able to dig up about her past thus far is having marked "native American" in a little box on a university application form some 40 or so years ago, this because her mother had told her she had native American ancestors.

Warren is still old to be running for president, but she doesn't show her age like Biden and Trump do. She appears still young and energetic.

Of course, the Trumpers will still make stuff up if they can't find anything, but it won't approach the level of having paid off porn stars with whom she has had affairs or having ridiculed the handicapped.

Yup! And every time I bring up the fact that she has swatted away Trumps nickname of her the Trumpers go nuts and say they're gonna call her that name anyway. Well, it doesn't seem to be stopping her, and no one who takes politics seriously cares about the name-calling.

Warren might make a race out of this, but Iowa is still a long ways off.

The only way Warren makes this a race is if she sweeps Iowa and New Hampshire, because Super Tuesday will bring in many Biden victories. However, if Warren somehow also wins Nevada on top of that, then the math for some of the other races could change very fast.

Still, Biden's firewall in the south east is going to be strong.

I always believed that Joe would eventually sink the polls. He is too much establishment, and keeping the status quo. He is a lot like Hillary, but has a better reputation. If Joe were president, he probably wouldn't do anything except make deals with donors and people like that.

Trump is a big fat, wheezing slob. He looks horrible and has a bad tan. Warren does look healthier and so much younger than him.

Even Democrats make jokes about her Native thing. Everybody does it. Since Democrats are doing it too, it really takes the sting out of the insult.

She did something stupid. It's not the big of a deal in comparison to Trump.

Hillary won the southern states too. Sanders won all the traditional blue states. There is a problem when a Democrat gets the party nominee by winning states they have no chance of winning in the general. Hillary was so bad, she depressed turn out where it was needed. Biden is going to be a terrible general election candidate based on the current math.

All I'z sayin's there's cracks in the front runner firewall.
Maybe they'z is small cracks, mebber they'z bigger'n small. :lamo

Sorry...I'm having a little bit of fun with this, can't hep muh-self. ;)

There's not a single person that can look at Elizabeth Warren and ever imagine her blatantly violating the emoluments clause for personal gain, or treating someone like Angela Merkel with disrespect just because she's a woman, or buying a hotel and encouraging foreign dignitaries and ambassadors to stay at her hotel in order to gain her favor. Nobody can imagine for a second that Elizabeth Warren would be unfaithful to her spouse or suggest putting her daughter in the position of US Ambassador to the UN. Can anyone envision Elizabeth Warren denying that Khashoggi was murdered by Mohammed bin Salman because he told her he didn't do it but all of our US intel agencies told her that he did?

I can cite a thousand things that Elizabeth Warren would never do. But two things she will do is uphold the laws of this land and preserve the Constitution.

I very much doubt Sanders would have done any better at winning those heartland states than Clinton.

We'll never know how well Sanders would have done in Michigan and Wisconsin, but I'm doubtful he would have done better. Warren has a chance to do better in those states than Sanders in the last primary. The only question is: will she do better than Clinton?

Clinton's folly were polls that depressed turnout, when everyone thought she was going to win.

True dat.

I'm no fan of Biden's approach to politics, but he's far better than Trump.

I've no doubt there are independent voters who know of Biden's gaffes and don't care. I also believe that independents might look past Warren on M4A, just as they looked past Trump's wall and position on Roe.

This is no era of politics. People are willing to make massive trade-offs with candidates.

Making such a big deal about her having marked a square on a college application so many years ago shows that they have nothing of substance.

I am curious-what Libertarian issues do you think that Warren seeks to advance?

The fact that she is a big time statist who seeks to increase the power of the federal government is pretty substantive to those of us who actually care about individual freedom and rights

She manages to have all the talking points while not sounding establishment. And not in a crazy aunt kinda way. She does have that a little bit, but not like Bernie or Joe.

I've been reading some results from Iowa. Local people who volunteered to be there. They are saying that all the candidates of course bussed people in, but the organic energy belonged to Warren. Everyone was excited for her. People are saying that they haven't seen that energy level there probably since Obama if ever...

We heard the same thing about Santorum when he won Iowa, and Edwards when he won South Carolina.

The momentum is Super Tuesday, where historically the person who wins the most states wins the primary.

Warren has to have a breakthrough somewhere in the south east.

Having a universal health care system that is not tied to employment will give Americans the freedom to change jobs and/or to strike out on their own and not be tied to a corporation. That's one.

The Declaration of Independence gives the purpose of government: It is for the preservation of these rights that governments are established....

Let's preserve the right to freedom from control by entities that are stronger than the individual.

But that's not the issue that keeps being harped upon. The issue that concerns the so called "conservatives" is that little box she once checked, and not that she would likely increase the power of the federal government. Why is that? The reason is simple: There is not one single candidate who won't increase the power of the federal government. There hasn't been one president in my lifetime that has actually decreased the power and expense of the federal government.

and I've had quite a long lifetime so far.

Trump has been president for almost three years. How has he increased the power of the federal government?

Seriously?

What has happened to the federal budget during those three years? The government just keeps getting more and more expensive, more and more powerful, bigger and bigger.

Trump clearly doesn't like either California or conservationists. He used his power to attempt to revoke that state's emission standards. Clearly, he likes federal power over state's rights.

That's just off the top of my head. I'm sure there is more.

Congress is responsible for spending, and Trump has been reducing the power of federal government agencies, just look at the people he puts in charge of them. If you want to claim he is making fedgov more and more powerful then you need to show how.
