The clown show is live now. Nadler wasn't ready and is being mad a fool of by Lewandowski. Trump has got to be laughing his ass off.

I thought some of the televised hearing of the UK Parliament were embarrassing.......

Democrats better get their act together; the Republicans did their homework.

Oh my GOD!! Can obstruction of justice be any more evident? This is disgusting and Congressman Doug Collins is clearly a co-conspirator in all of this. What a travesty the GOP has made of our Constitution and judicial system. It's sickening to watch but I am watching, I can't turn away, it's like watching a fast moving train filled with people about to plunge off a bridge.

The abuse of power and obstructionism by Trump is right there in full view for the entire world to see......and, so what??

Donald Trump is a total crook and con man. He is the worst of the swap.

I finally got around to watching a small part of the hearing. I came in when that Dem from GA was trying to pin Lewandowski down on some nonsense. Lewandowski wasn't having any part of it. Then, when the next Congressman...a Rep...was leading Lewandowski to make a statement about the Dems, Lee got upset at "being called an idiot". Nadler shut her down. That made me laugh.

This is going to be another failure by Nadler, but of course it'll be spun by the media to try to make Lewandowsky...and Trump...look bad. The rest of the useful idiots...the public who won't watch the hearing...will believe whatever the media tells them.

In direct contradiction to Congressman Matt Gaetz and Corey Lewandowski's both lied when they claimed that the Trump campaign was not notified by the FBI or by the Obama administration that Russians were attempting to interfere with the election, that is in direct contradiction to the testimony of A.G. William Barr.

William Barr Corrects Himself, Confirms Trump Campaign was Warned in 2016 About Russian Interference

Attorney General William Barr confirmed Wednesday during testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the Trump campaign was briefed in 2016 that the Russians would try to infiltrate it, contrary to previous remarks made by the president.

"I have been told during the break that a lesser kind of briefing, a security briefing that generally discusses general threats, apparently was given to the campaign in August [2016]," Barr told lawmakers after returning from a brief recess.

Earlier in his testimony, the attorney general was asked by Republican Senator John Cornyn whether a "defensive briefing" was given to the Trump campaign by the FBI as part of their counterintelligence investigation. Cornyn also questioned whether the FBI told then-candidate Trump "what the Russians were trying to do and advise him to tell people affiliated with his campaign to be on their guard and be vigilant about Russian efforts to undermine public confidence in the election."

"My understanding is that didn't happen," Barr responded. "Under these circumstances, it's one of the things that I can't fathom why it did not happen, if you're concerned about interference in the election and you have substantial people involved in the campaign who were former U.S. attorneys, I don't understand why the bureau would not have gone and given a defensive briefing."

Barr later clarified, telling the senators that the Trump campaign did receive a general briefing. But it was not a "defensive briefing," he said. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign also reportedly received the same briefing, consistent with providing presidential nominees with classified intelligence to protect against foreign threats.

Barr's revelations fly in the face of Trump repeatedly lambasting former President Barack Obama and the FBI for not alerting his campaign to the ongoing efforts by Russia to infiltrate it. NBC News also reported in October and December 2017 that the campaign was "briefed and warned" on the matter.

"Why didn't President Obama do something about Russia in September (before November Election) when told by the FBI?" Trump tweeted Wednesday. "He did NOTHING, and had no intention of doing anything!"

Throughout the campaign, including after he was reportedly told Russia was responsible for the hacks of the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign, as well as behind efforts to influence the election, Trump said that instead of Russia trying to interfere, it was "somebody sitting on their bed that weighs 400 pounds."

Lewandowski just admitted that you know, when he was on Fox news, he was free to engage in "Hyperbole" (aka lying his ass off for Fox news). Funny stuff.

Jordan, Meadows...those two clowns always have improper objections and nuttery...seeing them is is I agree, annoying, but they are elected reps. and in official capacity, they are allowed to be clowns if they so choose. What was the lastest..."contractors aren't "staff!!!", which was shot down as being 100% irrelevant. Employee and staff are not equivalent, and house "staff" includes contractors and consultants (and employees and interns, etc.). The Republican idiots know this, they are just trying to clown it up as usual.

Barry Berke made Lewandowski look like the lying POS we all knew he was.

A non-staff member lawyer and CNN opinion writer is now allowed to question a witness in a House hearing?!?

Yes, if the Federal Bar Member in good standing has received an of counsel appointment by a member of the House, or has been approved by a yea/nay oral vote by the House as a friend of the House. For the latter, it is a method of bringing a party of known expertise and no pony in the dog race into the conversation.

It is unreasonable to expect House members to fully understand any specific topic outside their purview. Having an expert raise issues they might not be aware of for technological reasons not understood. Recognition of human limitations.

He's not. He was hired as a consultant - he is not a staff member of the House Judiciary Committee.

Rep. Collins (R): “This move to have private consultants question a witness during an oversight hearing is an egregious violation of the Rules of the House and pretends that the Judiciary Committee’s Article I oversight authority extends to private attorneys when it doesn’t,”

He's a lawyer. Attorney-client privilege.

lol...obstructing an impeachment investigation is by itself impeachable.

America will never again the the same.

Seems to me we are seeing the norms of a liberal democracy die a rapid death.

If you cant tell the difference between a general briefing given to both campaigns as opposed to specific things occurring that the campaign was not told about, you shouldn't even be part of the conversation.

Rep. Collins (R): “This move to have private consultants question a witness during an oversight hearing is an egregious violation of the Rules of the House and pretends that the Judiciary Committee’s Article I oversight authority extends to private attorneys when it doesn’t,”

Doug Collins alleged he was violating House rules, and a roll call vote was held on whether that was the case, further holding up the proceedings. Again, Doug Collins intentionally created chaos and delay when he knows very well what the rules are. Yesterday's hearing was also the first time the committee operated under new rules it passed last week along party lines, that authorized staff attorneys to question witnesses at the impeachment hearings. Doug Collins claimed that because Barry Berke, as well as former Obama ethics official Norm Eisen, were hired as consultants for Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee to help with their investigations, they did not qualify as staff and could not question Lewandowski. The chairman ruled that Berke could question Lewandowski, and the committee voted along party lines to uphold Nadler’s ruling.

Lewandowski’s attorney, Peter Chavkin of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, sat behind his client for most of the hearing. When it came time for Berke’s questioning, Chavkin interrupted, claiming it was “unauthorized.” Chavkin said at the end of the hearing that he would be submitting a letter, challenging Berke’s questions.

Nadler pointed to past instances where outside attorneys have been allowed to question witnesses at House Judiciary interviews, including during the previous session of Congress, when the committee was under Republican control.

"new rules it past last week along party lines" means that the democrats on that committee who outnumber the republicans by 7 members (24 D vs 17R) voted themselves - on short notice - a rule for their benefit for that particular hearing.

If you can't win, just change the rules.

It's not a 'change in the rules' that's the rule and always has been the rule. It's the same rule that had given the republicans the majority in the House until the 2018 election. If you don't like the rules, that's just too bad, isn't it? Majority rules. Are you going to be a 'snowflake' now and cry because democrats won control of the House in 2018?

It is "changing the rules". "... the first time that attorneys have been allowed to question a witness under recently passed committee rules. ..."
