We keep hearing about white privilege. There is no such thing. It is just another buzz word thot up by left to divide us.

Take myself for example, some would put me in with the so call white privileged. But look at my personal history. I left the farm as a teen, went to the Navy and was taught electronics. That got me a 47 year career as an office machine and computer technician. However I was expected to be available 24/7/365, and I took may share of callouts at 3 AM in driving snow storms and other bad weather. I worked my ass off to make the machines in my territory the best running machines in the country!!!!! As a result I have a tiny slice of the American dream with a good retirement check and health ins.

Oh----------------- and zero in on that word WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So white privilege doesn't exist because you worked hard and had to handle calls at 3 am. With that kind of reasoning you could become a trump supporter.

But what do you know about how your experience differs from a city-bred black person? Do you think a black guy from Chicago, say, or LA or New Orleans might have a different take on society?
See, all you've told us here is that you didn't ****-up royally. A repair technician on-call 24/7 ain't exactly a shining example of success but you didn't ****-up royally. So congratulations. But what gives you the right to declare there's no white privilege, based on what you say here? Sounds like you've had it pretty easy, overcoming-wise. Treaded water, ya know?

You obviously deserve kudos for making something of yourself. However, do you think the concept of white privilege is a recent one in history? If so, what was the point of affirmative action laws?

I think part of the problem is the choice of words. When a lot of people hear the word Privilege, they think of people who were born into wealth.

Perhaps a better word would have been advantage.

That's like telling us that despite getting a 5 mile head start in a 10 mile race you still finished near the back of the pack. That doesn't tell us you didn't get a head start, it tells us you're incredibly slow.

You had an advantage, you worked your ass off, and you still lost. That indicates an incredibly lack of natural talent to me.

I mean, honestly dude it sounds to me like you started off with the same advantage I did, but I'm only 37 and I'm already way the **** ahead of you without really having to work that hard at all so what exactly did you do wrong?

When I took service calls in the black areas of some cities, I DID encounter racism from a few black people. I just ignored it.

sorry i don't. I have worked for everything i have. I took the means and the processes and opportunities that were offered to me.
i made good decision while some of my friends didn't make good decisions. they were white as well.

making good decisions with your life has no bearing on skin color. I am at the point i am going to sell my home and either buy or build a new one.
i love that i have made the choices in life to get me to this point.

I think the aim of discussion is to communicate viewpoints. I don't see anything wrong with using the word advantage. I clearly understood the meaning. Just give me my ticket and I'll move on. ;)

I can agree with your assessment of the OP, but I'm an optimist. Maybe he (who started the thread) is opened to learning. I don't see where piling up on him is conducive to that end.
 
There is no White Privilege, that is a term used when employing slave morality to shame the strong for being strong. An emotional term to snooker white people into thinking it is only fair and right to give up opportunities for themselves and their children so that other races can advance. Looking at what they're saying, the philosophy behind the term "white privilege" correctly, it is the epitome of white supremacy. It's telling everyone, that the non-white's of this world can't make it, can't rise up as a group without white people giving up what's theirs, without white people hamstringing themselves and their posterity.

I am not privileged, what I am is the return on my ancestor's investment. And I plan on leaving a ROI for my posterity that will allow them to become even stronger.


More effort should be spent on integrating, partnering, and training the under "privileged" so that they can work to achieve everything they want. Less effort should be spent on making excuses, and what's worse making it easy...Making it easy by lessening competition, lessening the hurdles -- You don't make someone strong by making everyone else weak.
