Trump farmers: "Well sure I lost my farm, but people in New York city got rich, and I have my penny stocks, so that's good enough for me! They just probably work a lot harder than I do and they really deserve it more! I like Feudalism. "

A farmer of 40 years' standing, Kuylen did not vote for Trump in the last election. He said that those in the farm-belt who did back Trump in 2016 would be foolish to do so in 2020.

"If he doesn't lose 100 percent of it from the farm belt then people are kind of crazy because this is not going well for farmers at all," he told CNN host Don Lemon (via Grabien.)

"I mean, some of them are trying to be faithful, they made that decision and voted for him but I would have to say in the back of their minds they are just not very happy right now."

But guys.....We might get new trade deals...eventually!

Nick Bowdish, CEO of Elite Ethanol in Atlantic, went even further and said that corn farmers who still back Trump are “just voting to cut off their own economic prosperity.” He also added that “it’s a train wreck out here,” referring to the current state of the ethanol market.

We did get a new trade deal through USMCA that the Democrats refuse to approve. The USMCA by pretty much all neutral political networks will raise real GDP and help farmers.

Also, Hillary didn't visit any farmers in Wisconsin.

So now you care what corporate spokespeople think? Interesting.

Bucky, why is it you just post a lie instead of telling the truth. Trump hasn't even sent it to congress so how they hell can the democrats refuse to approve something that has never been sent to them?

Wow the lying from the right is just abhorrent lately.

He hasn't sent it because they won't approve it.

Yes NAFTA II has not been approved yet but it is nearly identical to NAFTA I with some elements from TPP added. It's approval will not fix the problem that farmers have now and that problem is Trump.

The USMCA is a marginal improvement over NAFTA—better in some areas, worse in others, about the same in most. Relative to the existing NAFTA, there are pros and cons. Though there is greater liberalization in goods trade, it is marginally to imperceptibly so. Taking into consideration the negative changes, especially to the rules of origin, it’s not obvious that USMCA is much of an upgrade from NAFTA.

To be fair, Bucky didn't say that he did. Pelosi refused to work on it, which is accurate.

Wrong.

Trump sent the USMCA to Congress months ago. Nancy is sitting on it.

:lamo So just who are the farmers going to vote for..... Crazy Bernie or Warren I have high cheek bones?
The farmers know they will be better off with some short pain for a long term gain! The democrats don't give a flying blank about
the farmers. The dems will have them paying for the illegal aliens government provided free healthcare and all the other free stuff for them.
Just another silly thread.

He hasn't sent it because they won't approve it.

That's on him. Once sent if the Dems choose not to support THEN you can blame them. Until then it's chicken**** Trump's fault.

I've said it over and over, Farmers have no where else to go politically. If they do not back Trump the only other option is staying home, Democrats and liberals especially have no interest in that segment of America.

Don't get me wrong, if I were in farming I would be upset as well.

Anytime you have trade with some other nation, then engage in a trade war with them for whatever reason, you have no choice but to pick different winners and losers. In this case farmers were shuffled out of the deck of importance. But that does not mean Democrats will all of a sudden pick up the charge for farmers.

Now another Republican on the other hand... perhaps.

sorry but that doesn't fly. Send it to congress and if they shoot it down, THEN you can blame them. Until then, it's Trump shuffling his fat feet doing nothing but trying to blame everyone else.

Wrong.

Please show where he sent it. He did nothing of the sort and it was planned to be sent around September 1st of this year and never has.

Wow, the lying from the left is just.... expected!

Your lies are what is expected. Trump never sent it to congress for approval.

As already noted: The new NAFTA is nearly identical to the old NAFTA. The only thing it does for farmers is give US dairies better access to Canada's markets.

Needless to say, this does nothing for farmers who produce soybeans, wheat, corn, pork -- i.e. the farmers discussed in the article, who sell their wares to China.

I don't think most Trump-supporting farmers have given up on him. However, it's clear they are not happy with him; and both Trump and Perdue have aggravated farmers with their tone-deaf statements. (E.g. “What do you call two farmers in a basement?” Mr. Perdue asked near the end of a testy hourlong town-hall-style event. “A whine cellar.” did not go over well.)

More importantly, farm bankruptcies and farm loan delinquencies are on the rise. Farm equipment manufacturers are also taking a hit. Both are aware that the situation with China is getting worse, not better.

Trump may live in a fantasy where reality changes based on his whims, and rip off creditors with few consequences. Farmers, even big ones, do not have that luxury.

Many of those who voted for him are trying to keep a stiff upper lip. Trying to be supportive of his policies because they're team players even though they're doing worse under his policies.

But what percentage of those voters will stay with him until November 2020 in spite of their personal hardship?

Cato considers the rules of origin a negative? Well, that shows where they stand...with China.

If you read the article you would understand. The new origin rules are likely to benefit China an other nations outside of NAFTA2

The more rigid rules of origin translate into higher regional production costs, which will encourage automakers, apparel producers, and other manufacturers to forego the costs of complying with these rules in favor of using non-qualifying inputs or producing outside the region altogether, and paying the non-preferential tariff rates upon entry into the United States. That would mean less investment and more divestment from the region, which is what happens when origin rules are too onerous.

Wrong.

Like Moscow Mitch is sitting on the election security measure? Perhaps he would like to make a deal.:lamo

Smart people who financed Trump got what they expected. The dumb ones who voted for him not so much, but very few of them are smart enough to know it.

That's one person's opinion. I'll wait and see what the opinions of the manufacturers turn out to be. That tariff could end up adding a LOT to the price of the car being exported to the US from Mexico or Canada.
