Nothing is sacred to the Trump Administration. This made me mad enough to spit. I thought it might be a fake story, until I looked it up.

Ken Cuccinelli rewrites Statue of Liberty poem to make case for limiting immigration - CNNPolitics. Cuccinelli is rewording the poem at the Statue of Liberty!

I'm sorry, but that is like the last straw for me, Trump and his people are total scum! They need to go.

Is history not sacred?
"The New Colossus", was written by AMERICAN, Emma Lazarus, to raise funds for the pedestal for the Statue of Liberty.
The Statue of Liberty was given to the U.S. by France to honor the friendship and the commitment to liberty between France and the United States.

Ugh, how the Left has ruined it.

I'm well aware of the poem's history and the statue's. Acadia, you are once again proving that everything Trump's bunch does is okay with you. That is disgusting!

Where in the poem does it say "give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to receive free money, health care, and services for life?"

The U.S. needs to ensure that non-citizens do not abuse our public benefit programs and jeopardize the safety net needed by vulnerable Americans.

The poem and our immigration statutes are two different things. It has pretty much always been US immigration policy that applicants for a visa be able to provide for themselves.

"The New Colossus" is not foreign or immigration policy. Never was. It makes for great sound bites for the MSM.

It's a monument and a poem. It is "sacred" it isn't policy. They have no business changing the poem, ever!

Please, the Left has abused the origins and meaning of the poem to suit their needs and suddenly they're offended because someone tweaked the words in an interview?

Another blatantly misleading headline.
From the report...
"Cuccinelli was asked about Lazarus' poem on Monday and whether the new immigration changes would merit its removal from the statue's pedestal.
"I do not think, by any means, we're ready to take anything off the Statue of Liberty," he said."

Sacred? History? What do you mean by that?

Back when the statue of liberty was built, we were getting immigrants from Germany, Scandinavia, Italy, Ireland, Poland, etc. People we had a lot in common with.

Yeah, it's a little racist.

It’s worth mentioning that each of your examples had their trials and tribulation as they assimilated.

Krauts, Square Heads, Wops, Micks and Polacks ..

THIS is the last straw? Not 2 more trillion in debt or soldiers dying in foreign countries or his many asshole comments about people, but the acting director of Immigration pointing out that OUR LAWS require self sufficiency for immigration? This isnt 1883. We didnt have open borders then, and we havent taken in the worlds poor and homeless for many many decades. A poem on a statue is not our ethos or our law.

Did we even have welfare in 1883?

We should take it down along with every other monument that people feign being offended by.

Why are you wasting your breath on people who have no issue with desecrating the flag to make a political point or take a knee during our anthem. The faux outrage they are pretending to have about this is laughable. They forfeited their right to play the patriotism card a long time ago.

I suggest you laugh in their face and move on.

You mean you are really really really outraged that we are following the law?
