Where are you getting this premise from as to the reason for the EC creation?

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

The popular vote should win, period. Make people feel like their vote actually counts and maybe our turnout will be better instead of the masses feel like they've been robbed and hence why vote in the future. Our poor voter turnout is pathetic.
My only issue with the electorial college is how the states award them in a winner take all fashion.

I think they should either be awarded porportionately or by congressional district. I think its unfortunate that the left does not really get a say if they live in texas and the right gets shut out in california.

The problem isnt the concept but how the states manage their allotted votes. A candidate who wins a state by 1 vote should not recieve 100% of that states electorial votes.

So, is the electoral college good or bad for a democracy according to donald?

Donald J. Trump on Twitter: "The electoral college is a disaster for a democracy."
In other words, the realization has sunk into you that the EC is here to stay for a very long time.

So, your beef with the Electoral College is that it worked? And, because it worked, but not in your party’s favor, it is undemocratic and must be dissolved?

Wouldn’t it be logical for the Democratic Party to exercise a bit of self reflection to determine how they keep winning the popular vote but losing the Electors? The rules of the game have been the same, essentially, for 230 years. This isn’t a surprise to anyone, except a few who are too lazy to think about how to win according to the rules.
