Trump Is Doing This Racism Thing All Wrong

It's cool that we can talk about this. Now who was better for white Americans? Or is that a bad thing?

It’s not as if anyone takes Rasmussen polls (or PJ Media, for that matter) seriously!

I have a strong suspicion that this meme is being ginned up in anticipation of Trump’s re roll out rally tonight.

He has already signaled his intent to play to Mexihate, with a bellowed tweet about how millions of illegals are going to be rounded up by ICE.

And Rasmussen isn’t the only one pushing this “blacks better off” meme. Right wing blogs are also filled with the results from a fake poll run by a political marketing firm called VoterLabs.

VoterLabs is one of those firms that specialize in targeting likely suckers for right wing direct marketing.

In their press releases they freely admit to identifying (and thus cherry picking) its respondents. And even then it had a laughable 8% spread.

But their objective was to advertise their services to the likes of Gateway Pundit, PJ Media and the like as clickbait promoters, which is what pays the bills for these far right wing tabloids.

I recall when Obama was president, my family, since it was white, was poor and destitute during those years. Obama's policies helped blacks and not whites.

The media says that the more successful I am, the poorer blacks must get. This means that the more successful blacks are, the less successful I am. This is what happened to me during Obama.

When Trump took office, I got rich as a direct result of his anti-black policies. My family is no longer poor because of Trump's anti-black laws. Thanks Trump! Sadly, if a democrat gets in office in 2020, blacks will be rich again like they were under Obama, and I'll lose everything.

WOW! Extraordinary, Obama was responsible for your family not doing well because only blacks were helped by him. That's about the most idiotic thing I've heard on this board. Ever heard of the Great Recession?

Link to this nonsense?

Yet Trump is arguing that this is the BEST time EVER for blacks and Hispanics among other minority demographics, so wouldn't that mean you'd be doing worse NOW. Given, in your Merchantilist world there is only this zero-sum game of give and take.

Okay, please tell me this whole post is a joke and I just overreacted.

Your last three words are correct. The rest, not so much.

The poll merely states the obvious. Employment and income are better for black now than any time from 2009-2016. Facts like that matter.

Okay, so it's an idiotic screed that ignores the worst recession since the Great Depression.

So, forget Obama's first term and blame it on Bush. It's excessive but it's done all the time. Trump has still been better than during Obama's second term.

That's the Capitalist business cycle, neither president deserves credit for the economy.

I am close to agreeing with this. My reservation is that the tax reform has more lasting impact than anything since the monetary/banking reforms of the 1980s. The largely unexpected 3.1% growth in 2019 1st Quarter was driven by increased exports. The tax law also put more money in minority pockets than the Stimulus, but that's largely non repeating.

I think much of it is actually debt related growth, which will only be temporary until the next major recession hits. Yes, perhaps the tax cuts did buy some extra months before the next recession, but that's not what they sold it as, and we can only know if it was worth it on the other side of the next recession. We are now unable to really use QE like we did last time, to prop things up, we never got out of recovery rates and the market can't handle going back to business as usual. This is a Capitalism problem, and the polarization in this country is crippling our response to addressing the situation seriously.

The US just got its latest sign that the manufacturing sector is slowing down | Markets Insider
"Economists say the slowdown is in part due to the fading effects of stimulus measures, but trade tensions haven't helped."

The global economy is slowing, it isn't just the US.

I don't think that's true, I think that's again a result of the business cycle. Labor markets started to get tighter, wages increased to attract talent, leading to more hiring, which of course benefits white people and minorities, duh. Perhaps Trump can be credited with extending the inevitable crash with this action, but will it really setup us up better for the next recession? My bet is that on the other side this will not be seen as worth it, when inequality really starts to get out of hand, because of this top down economic system.

I should also mention the First Step Act, which is a prison reform law widely believed to reduce inequalities in the system. It's also genuinely bipartisan which is almost unique in recent years.

It was satirical - I was trying to demonstrate that personal effort and behavior is the primary driver of success. The concept that a president is "for" one race and "against" another is ludicrous, but a lot of people seem to believe this.

In the context of personal bias, not really. That personal bias can often influence how a particular president might feel toward legislation that helps a particular group. In the case of Trump, him and his father applied this kind of bias in the housing units they owned in NYC.

The Obama administration was worse for all Americans. Jihadists, on the other hand, loved Obama's policies.

A rising tide floats all boats.

Trump routinely said during the campaign to the black community "what do you have to lose"? This time he can ask "are you better off?"

Those who look at their wallet despite what CNN tells them will certainly respond in the affirmative.

lol@Rasmussen

We have seen a preview of what the democrats are going to offer the American people from
2 nights of debates and it's not looking good!

So get ready for the race card to be played front and center as the election nears.
The dems violent turn left is going to doom them!!
