In 1972 the US Mens Olympic Basketball Team was set to win yet another Olympic Basketball Gold Medal. What happened is history and most people agree the outcome was not only stunning but a travesty in athletics and the Olympics. When Doug Collins hit two free throws with 3 seconds remaining it appeared the Americans had won. The Russians inbounded the ball and failed to score. Rather than the game be over the Russians were given another attempt to inbound the ball and score, they failed. Game over? No. Again the Russians were given an opportunity to inbound and score. The third opportunity was a charm, at least for the Russians, scoring on a full length pass with a layup by one of the Russian players.
Three attempts to score in order to get it done. The reasons for giving the Russian team two attempts to retry to score have never been adequately explained by FIBA, the governing body for international basketball at the time. It was a stolen game with one team making use of "dirty" tactics. Failure wasn't final for the Russians. The US had clearly won, not once but twice. It would not be enough as another attempt would get them the victory.

This is the Democrats. They played the game. Put their best players on the court. First Hillary, she lost. Then the Mueller investigation, again they lost, no collusion and no evidence that would support a criminal case about obstruction. But now we get to the third try. Dirty tricks and help from a third party, the media, will keep the democrats trying to remove a sitting President who beat back the atttack by democrats because they cannot come to terms with the loss which has haunted the democrat party.

Russian collusion, nope. Russian mentality, looks like it.

I wonder what you think of the 60 times the Republicans tried to repeal ACA?

Democrats? Mueller, a Republican, was assigned to the task by another Republican, Rosenstein, who was nominated by a Republican president, Trump, and then confirmed overwhelmingly with all Republican Senators voting "aye".

Republicans brought up legislation to be voted on in Congress. No republicans voted for the ACA, and it was problematic from a cost standpoint. Sort of like democrats are talking about undoing the tax cuts voted on by Congress if dems get both houses. A legal action of the congress, both sides do this. The legal investigation the democrats cried for and got did not result in any indictments for collusion or obstruction but they still claim its there. Where? They did not have the proof. If there had been an indictment from the investigation on these points they would have an argument, they don't. Their investigation with the guy they said would be able to do the job right. Job got done and now they are not happy with it. Let's have a redo.

And the democrats talked about what a great choice Mueller was and how impeccable his integrity. Now because they didn't get any indictments against Trump, they cry foul.

I don't hear or read of any of them complaining about Mueller beyond the fact that he didn't try to indict Trump, but many understand why.

That is a hilariously inaccurate spin. The Mueller investigation was hardly democrats, it did exactly what it was designed to do, it did not find "no collusion", it found not enough evidence to charge any of the crimes associated with collusion, while noting the investigation was hamstrung by lying witnesses, destroyed evidence, people refusing to testify. On obstruction, it certainly did not find "no evidence that would support a criminal case about obstruction", in point of fact, pointedly leaving open the possibility of charges, either in the form of impeachment or more likely after Trump is no longer sitting president. The only Trump was not indicted was DOJ policy that the president cannot be indicted.

Complaining about dirty tricks, when the report details Trump trying to get people to break the law to obstruct the investigation is ****ing hilarious.

and now it's Trump who is badmouthing the report. He did like Barr's summary, though:

Special counsel Robert Mueller's report has finally been released to the public, and it spells out how President Donald Trump tried to seize control of the Russia probe and choke off the investigation of possible obstruction of justice.

Trump is claiming vindication, but Mueller said the president was thwarted only by the refusal of some of those around him to follow his orders.

Mueller laid out multiple episodes in which Trump directed others to influence or curtail the Russia investigation after the special counsel's appointment in May 2017.

The report says those efforts "were mostly unsuccessful, but that is largely because the persons who surrounded the President declined to carry out orders or accede to his requests."

I'm sure that there was a point to that word salad but I don't know what it is

I have Polish ancestry too yet have no love for vodka.

It must be your ideology.

Really the only thing making me drink at the moment are the Chicago Cubs.

They seem to forget that pretty routinely.

They laugh hysterically at Trump's bumbling antics?
