Well There is At Least One

This is the sad current condition of politics in this nation.

Trump stepped in it, again, as he is unwilling to voice disagreement with someone on an issue or issues without making it personal at the same time. That of course provokes response from those who at least agreed enough with McCain to come to his defense.

But this is the **** we end up talking about taking us further away from the issues of the day.

It's pretty much just name calling and little (to no) discussion of issues. Most of the times it's people using labels against their fellow citizens instead of talking about possible solutions. This kind of discourse isn't going to help this country at all if it continues. If the people are like this now, the candidates of the future are going to be worse. One of the more disappointing aspect of Trump's presidency is his behavior and tactics have been rewarded; that's going to leave a mark in the American psyche.

This is exactly why I don't post here as often as I used to--one reason, anyway. Hardly anyone wants to discuss, and the usual suspects blow off even devastating arguments or evidence for their position, and start a new thread as if they hadn't just been shown conclusively that their belief is false. It happens on both sides, though lately it does seem to happen more often with conservatives. These boards are a microcosm for the national conversation taking place...but I use "conversation" charitably, as people aren't really conversing, at present.

I know what you mean. I read through a lot of threads and many are the verbal equivalent of people shouting names at each other. We can blame the media, politicians, celebrities, and whoever else but all of this exists because there is an audience for it. As citizens in this country we can also vote with our wallets and viewership. Stop supporting the crap we know is wrong and there's a good chance it will go away. This is really all supply and demand at work unfortunately. If reality TV taught us anything is people love watching petty conflict; much of what we have now is an extension of that. Remember "confessionals" in reality TV shows where people took shots at each other? Well now we have it on the political stage by the folks who choose social media and other indirect ways to communicate disagreements. It's all piss poor form in my opinion, and what's saddening is there seem to be less adults in the room to do the responsible thing.

GOP senator to publicly call out Trump for McCain attacks | TheHill

Maybe others will find a spine and follow suit.........

Lindsay Graham has left the building.

By some time in 2020 we will know who the Honorable Republicans in positions of power are that put Nation above all else, and which have sold their souls to the dark side. I say this is good, it tells you which Repubs are still worthy if Respect. To my fellow Moderates and thinking Liberals, give those in the GOP respect for going against the NeoAmerican "Conservatives" that believe a President is greater than the Nation and what it stands for.
