Partisan Hate Is Becoming a National Crisis

Dog whispering that the U.S. military and his biker supporters may perpetrate serious physical violence upon certain Americans should his military supporters and badass bikers' reach a certain point. '. Many, if not most, rational people find that type of physical threat upon themselves and their loved ones to be extremely 'egregious.'

It is a recent poll of Americans that found more Democrats than Republicans think violence would be justified if the other side won in 2020.

 yeah, right.

LOL. You are so partisan you can't see the forest through the trees. How about this, how about checking out post #1 in this thread!

The president wasn't born in the US--Right Wing 2008-2016
The Clintons have a murder list--Right Wing 1994-2016
BENGHAZI!--Right Wing 2012-2016
PizzaGate--Right Wing 2016

Now the Right wants to play nice?

**** them!

Why don't you get up from laughing so hard and check out post #1 in this thread. You don't even know which thread you are posting in!

I'm not laughing at the thread OP. I'm laughing at your asinine claim in post # 326. I guess I could accommodate that stupidity by dressing up my 2 great grand sons in G.I. Joe outfits, or buy them some leathers and send those lil attack dogs out on their tricycles though if you insist on standing by that stupidity to take the spotlight off of Bone Spurs-in-Chief who has threatened to attack peace loving Americans with the U.S. military and his Hell's Angel's buddies.

Although he says he's skeptical about whether what Pelosi has said about not going down the road to impeachment unless the reason is compelling "represents a true shift from toxic partisanship," David French says that at least she's doing what more politicians should do, looking beyond one's one "tribe" and thinking of the larger body politic, and argues that this is a "national necessity." From his article:

A tribe isn't a set of ideas. A tribe is when people group themselves together based on common things like homeland, nationality, skin color, religion...

That is why political affiliation is not listed as a protected class when it comes to hate crimes and hate speech. Your political affiliation is a choice. The Republican Party has intentionally taken a hateful and divisive path. They chose to hate for irrational reasons and that gives libearls a rational reason to hate them. That's not partisanship. That's basic logic. You're supposed to hate hateful people.

Ah. So, you are finally admitting that you are one of those lefties polled who just wish the other side would die off or that if Trump wins in 2020, violence would be justified. Was that really so hard to admit?

What? Post #326 just restates what was in the OP!

From his article:

This morning the New York Times’ Thomas Edsall published an important essay highlighting a new study that analyzed the extent of “lethal mass partisanship.” As Edsall observes, the paper contained some disturbing statistics. Among them, “42 percent of the people in each party view the opposition as ‘downright evil.’” A stunning 20 percent of Democrats and 16 percent of Republicans believe “we’d be better off as a country if large numbers of the opposing party in the public today just died.” And if the opposing party wins the 2020 election, 18 percent of Democrats and 13 percent of Republicans “feel violence would be justified.”

We hear quite a bit about “dehumanizing rhetoric” in American public life. Well, it appears that tens of millions of Americans now have dehumanizing beliefs. “One out of five Republicans and Democrats agree with the statement that their political adversaries ‘lack the traits to be considered fully human — they behave like animals.’”

...It’s in this atmosphere that I’m increasingly of the view that the vanishing, bipartisan class of civil libertarians represent an important ingredient in the glue that keeps America together. The fundamental idea that we should defend the rights of others that we would like to exercise ourselves often requires that we gain greater sympathetic understanding of our opponents’ points of view. After all, the defense of liberty in the public square can never be merely legalistic. To be effective it also has to humanize. Nancy Pelosi & Trump Impeachment -- Partisan Hate Is Becoming a National Crisis | National Review

If you see those with whom you disagree as "more jackal than human," then you're "justified" in the impulse to ruin their lives and livelihoods. But at what cost to the nation?

Come, let us reason together, showing respect for all and malice toward none.

I understand what you were trying to accomplish, but I think it’s lost on most DP posters these days.

Yes, the op is trying to excuse scumbag RIght Wing behavior by pretending both sides are at fault. We've seen it before. Charlottesville definitely comes to mind.

Did the Right find that basement yet under the Pizza parlor where the sex ring was purported to exist?

Didn't think so. I can understand getting the sex ring wrong, but to miss the fact that there wasn't even a basement there takes some serious Right Wing stupidity.

Maybe that the far right are largely influenced by ridiculous conspiracy theories (Pizza parlor sex rings, QAnon, Kenyan presidents, etc) and are often driven to extremist actions (73% of American terrorist attacks since 9/11)? The left have their crazies on the far end, but they are mostly innocuous these days.

Gee, just "since 9/11"? Why choose that arbitrary date instead of 9/10 or 1/1 ? Intellectual dishonesty, plain and simple. BTW whose the arbiter of that 73% number?

If you want to include 9/11, fine. While it may not be far-right white supremacist terrorism it would be considered far-right Muslim extremist terrorism. Either way, extremist conservatives are far more dangerous these days compared to extremist liberals.

The statistic is from the U.S. Government Accountability Office.

I dotn't consider Islamic terrorists any more leftist than I consider white supremacists rightists.

Islamic terrorists are almost always conservative in the sense they want to preserve certain customs/traditions in their culture/religion. White supremacists are almost always right-wing conservative and hate communists/socialists. Many of them are proud fascists and neo-nazis.

Now you're trying to use the generic word "conservative" to link to conservative ideology? Fascism and neo Nazi are not conservative.
