Klobuchar appealed to moderates last night in saying that she cannot support either free college or medicare for all. People have described her as sane, tough, strong, and smart. A real dark horse in the 2020 race who seems to have the midwestern vote locked up already potentially due to her campaign announcement which was done in a freaking blizzard.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar placed herself firmly in the center lane of the Democratic primary on Monday, calling popular progressive policy platforms “aspirational,” and declining to fully commit to them.

Not enough style. We are a country obsessed with social media, style, and sound bites.

It's gonna be fun watching the Left eat it's own during these primaries.

She is firmly for all three sides of the issue, yet somewhat against it under certain circumstances and always willing to compromise.

It'll be fun watching Trump freak out about the impending release of the peetape and his children being arrested.

She isn't my cup of tea by any means. But she's doing what she needs to do, and is attracting interest here in NH.

Interesting. Klobuchar seems to have at first glance political views that would appeal to independents. Which would make her very formidable during the general election. Independents make up approximately 40% of the total electorate. A Democrat winning the independent vote being the Democratic Party is still the larger party would ensure them the White House.

The reason we have Trump as president is he won independents enabling him to overcome the larger Democratic voting base. Where a more moderate Democrat would almost guarantee them the White House, I have a feeling the Democrats won't go that route. That they, their far left wacko wing will destroy Klobuchar in the primaries going with a candidate that turns off independents like Hillary Clinton did. This would let Trump back into the game.

It's not that independents like Trump, they don't. On election day of 2016 57% of independents disliked Trump, but 70% disliked Hillary enabling Trump to win the independent vote as the candidate they least wanted to lose, the so called lesser of two evils choice. I have a feeling that the democrats are going to repeat this same mistake from 2016.

2016 was an presidential election for the Democrats to lose, they lost it. 2020 is another presidential election for the democrats to lose. The key is the independent vote. 9 million voted third party in 2016, against both Trump and Clinton. That number could double depending on whom the democrats nominate. Those 9 million third party voters could have gone Democratic if they had nominated a decent candidate. We'll see what happens in 2020. Time will tell. But I'm not very hopeful.

I like that she bothered to tell the far left to stfu. I wouldn't vote for her over trump, but if trump get's primaried, i'd vote for her. The democrat party needs to model itself more like her, i think.

Don't worry about it Dems. It's early. There'll be more hats in the ring. The media will tell you who to vote for. (and you'll listen to them)

Trump beats a centrist. Klobuchar is not the candidate. Sanders/Gabbard or bust.

No, he is not. He had massive support in states trump won, the upper MW, PA etc.

A centrist is what the dems just ran.

We need sanders/gabbard, no more compromise with the rabid theocrats of the right. it's time to shut them down.

She didn't throw a binder out the window so that's a positive step.

I don't recall ever crossing paths with her in college-she was a year behind me. I was extremely active in the Political Union-I couldn't find any evidence she was a member. Several friends remember her as easy to get along with and smart but not particularly political. She came off the best, IMHO, of all the democrats during the Kavanaugh spectacle. She was the only one who actually seemed to want to get information rather than pander to the public. She's way way smarter than Harris or Biden or some of the others. Does she have charisma? That might be her achilles heel along with the fact that she doesnt seem to have a real consistency of belief

You and a few others here today have convinced me that Trump will be with us 4 more years.

A moderate would have won vs Trump. It was Hillary the person, not her policies that gave TRump the election, with Russian help.

Good God.

That is all we need, the left loonies to do the the DEms what the wingnuts have done to the GOP.

You better worry about a candidate that can get out the black vote. Bernie proved he cant.

Run Bernie with the current media darling from NYC. GO hard core statist-socialist. Let's see what happens. The "theocrats" are not running the GOP now.

The media doesn't tell people who to vote for. Get with the times.

The amount of alternative indie media pushing the sanders narrative to blacks and Hispanics has massively increased. You underestimate his reach.

I will vote for whoever the dems pick, and maybe a republican if this odious ****bag is primaried. However, I firmly believe trump loses to gabbard/sanders. 100%. As proven by sanders popularity in the rust belt, an area Clinton had to win.

Sure as **** they are. Pence is a theocrat, and trump is the mouthpiece for evangelism. Those two alone are theocrats.

You literally do not understand what socialism or democratic socialism is, do you?

Wow is that Turtle praising a Democrat???

I suspect I understand those terms far better than you understand "Independent"

I always call em like I see em. I am accurately reporting what I have seen and know about AK

Independent simply means I am not bound to either party. I dislike both sides, but democrats less so, because republicans are too in bed with evangelicals and big corporations for my liking.

Define socialism.
