Trump's fake deal

I've got more important things to do. So if you don't know the answer, or are unwilling to provide it, there's no point in responding to me further.

I know what they offered and I'll respond to you whenever I damn well please.

I don't hate walls, I just don't think they're as effective as camera drones and plenty of Border Patrol officers.

The fencing we already have is helpful only to a limited degree. Three things that I think would be more effective:

1. More focus and resources in getting Americans off of the drugs that are smuggled over or under the border. Decriminalizing cannabis nationally would be a good start.

2. A more efficient work visa program for seasonal workers.

3. A less complex immigration policy with a simpler path to citizenship, one that doesn't take upwards of ten years.

The snark about my intellectual honesty was un-called for.

A reference to building tunnels IMO was dishonest when discussing slowing the flow of illegal immigrants. Not far distant from the talking point about cameras and drones. Yes they could be a nice addition, but only that. Will not stop people from crossing the border. If a human can then track down the illegal what is the probability that person will be sent back?

No problem with decriminalizing cannabis. There is money in the current proposal for detection at ports of entry. There has already been some action to aid addicts, there needs to be much more. We already legally take in over a million folks a year seems plenty, especially with the addition of visas. No problem with visas for seasonal workers.along with a plan to insure they leave at the end of the season.

if his ego wall was important, he should have pushed it when Republicans were in charge of everything. instead, he chose to prioritize letting the hyper rich raid the treasury. as it stands now, **** his wall. he promised that Mexico would pay for it anyway.

His speech sounded like Steven Miller. The guy is a fascist.

If there was an offer for even 3 years of DACA, it wasn't Stephen Miller.

I thought he was only asking for $5.7 billion.

A year ago, he spurned a $20B offer in exchange for DACA. What followed was the 3 day shutdown of January 2018.

What have the Democrats offered?

Budget bills to reopen the Govt and the promise to negotiate on wall money when it is. Trump only wants a $5.7 billion ransom payment for his slush fund.

Standard Trump tactic: create a problem/dilemma and then reverse oneself (wholly or partially) and claim one is solving the problem one created.

Well he did campaign on the idea "I alone can fix it". In that statement, I'm sure he meant the self created dilemmas.

:)

I found the "I alone can fix it" comment pretty amusing, considering governance requires the cooperation of many to solve issues.

Though amusing isn't at all what I thought about "I alone can fix it," for the most part, I agree with you.
