Socialism Rising: Dems take House pushing massive government expansion

I dont expect the massive program ideas to get off the ground. Single payer has the best chance. What I like about the left is that they are concerned about our environment and our health and the link between the two and would address it with necessary regulations. They want to tax the highest earners more. They are concerned about voting rights and other civil rights. They understand Americas relationship with immigrants and how important it is to remain open to the world so the brightest keep coming here. I'm sure theres more. The more radical ideas I dont support but I'm not opposed to exploring.

I have no problem understanding. Asylum seekers are lawful.

Trump and the GOP arent open to legal immigration, though. They are trying to reform it to further limit who can come and the quotas. They hurt our image and make travel here difficult for students, and science and tech leaders. I suspect they fear for their built in senate majority and their white christian majority. Otherwise, what's the purpose for demonizing and minimizing even legal entry?

It was bound to happen. Conservatives has been claiming that popular programs like Social Security, Medicare and the ACA are 'socialism' for years. Americans then conclude that, if those are socialism, socialism isn't so bad.

"Socialism" is no longer the scare word that the right hoped.

You keep coming back for more as you continue to show how little you know about the taxes you pay and their purpose. Socialism certainly isn't a scare word for people with no drive, initiative, or competitive spirit and ability for creating personal wealth. Yours is one of an entitlement mentality where taking from someone else for one's own personal responsibility issues isn't a problem. This country was built on the Private sector, individual wealth creation and has the largest and best economy in the world. That socialism utopia you want to promote doesn't exist or if it does it certainly doesn't meet the standards established by our Founders. Seems that Beto is exactly the candidate you would like to see in office to take more from those that produce and give it to people who don't

Question for you: What do you feel the federal government should do to protect the American public from the vicissitudes of capitalism? Also, what should be the role of the federal government in caring for America’s indigent population?

McCarthy was right that communists are enemies of America. However, he seemed to have failed to comprehend the fact that all lost people are threats to the Union and that communism just happens to be one of the forms of government wicked rebels against God seem to like.

Get out of the way and let the states with term limits do it on both counts. State and local government responsibilities are totally ignored by the left as you people continue to pay high taxes for spending in the name of compassion and get what for it, high dependence?

Communist nations are generally run by brutal communist dictators. The nation itself is not so much entirely wicked as are the wicked barbarians ruling over it. Rebels against God are those who ignore, disobey, belittle, dismiss, dishonor, blaspheme, slander, disrespect, malign, abuse, and otherwise express animosity towards God and fail to give Him extreme preference over all things pertaining to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Socialism sounds good when the existing system stops working for the majority.

Frankly I'm surprised people accept living under a system that considers the majority commodities to be used and discarded by the minority.

8-10 maximum for any member of Congress, House and Senate. States have term limits why not the federal gov't? Legislators term limited out are then forced back into their districts to live under the laws they passed

Oh, yes, I’m in agreement with that, too.

And to reiterate: my view is that social needs programs such as caring for the poor and otherwise indigent population should be dealt with at a state and local level.

The federal government is far, far too big. We should make it a priority to reduce it.
