Bull crap, when they have completely served their punishment they are no longer a felon, they are free citizens so they must also have equal civil rights as other citizens. To make them pay for something they have served their time for is BULL.
The idea that convicted offenders are held to a different standard than law abiding citizens isn't unique to voting rights.
-We require sex offenders to register with the county in which they live
- Convicted felons may not possess firearms
- Felony convictions may be an impediment to employment, used at the discretion of private employers
- Some convicted felons may be denied a state issued driver's license, if their felony included the illegal use of a motor vehicle
- Felons may be barred from public service occupations, such as school teachers, police officer, or fireman
- Felons on parole may be subject to search requirements
Should we do away with all of these measures as well, just because the convicted felon isn't physically in a corrective facility anymore?
