We opened tomorrow. I have the keys and will be making sure things run smoothly.
I have a very liberal friend I have yet to tell about this.
We should have a really good back & forth about this.

Mostly we will be telling people their early voting dates and the hours of where polling places will be open.
We also sell RED WAVE hats, hand out free Ted Cruz yard signs, and yard signs for other locals running. This includes my buddy & friend Billy McCutcheon.
It should be fun.
Wish me luck and hope the place does not get fire bombed if Kavannagh gets selected.

Good for you for your civic enterprise ...

Well, since I am a Texan who will probably vote against every Republican I can, I would feel dishonest wishing you luck, but congrats on the job and I DO hope you have fun. :)

Nice trick, Marty!

Huh, party line over substance. Got it.

I don’t belong to a party. I have voted Democrat, Republican, Green, Libertarian and Independent during various elections. Depends on the individual and the position they are running for. But THIS election no Republicans make my cut.

Bob, its OK to wish me luck. I am not running for anything.
Just making sure the office runs smoothly.

What they do not know is I will also be showing the polling places to anyone else who comes in to ask.
Polling places are polling places. There is no party affiliation with them, so why not tell others where they are?
It would be impolite and ungentlemanly to not tell others where they can go vote.
It would also be UNAmerican.

I am going to take the first step to introduce some civility into our politics.
Fortunately most of us East Texans are pretty mellow, and the the opening party I found out almost all of us were once conservative Democrats.
Unfortunately, the Democratic party left us behind in their sharp left turn.

Ever heard the saying, "Everything before the 'but' is bull****?"

Yep, but it only holds true when it is true. If you ever get bored and have nothing better to do a perusal of my posting history, or asking other long term members here, will show I am about as far from a partisan as there is. I voted for GWB for governor and the first time he ran for President. That is the last time I voted Republican nationally. Locally Republicans still make my cut sometimes. But not this time.

Are you going to tell people how Cruz and the Republicans are skyrocketing the deficit? Soon to be $1 Trillion and counting.

Are you going to tell them how the supposedly "fiscally conservative party" holds all 3 legislative branches, and can't even balance the budget?

I will ask them if they would like mustard or ketchup on their hot dog.

I don't TELL people anything.
I smile and listen to what they have to tell me.

Would you also like some chips?

It is not about dictating to others and TELLING then how they should think or vote.
It is about politely listening to what they have to say and then finding that common thread we all share in one way or another.
Finding that common thread is tantamount in opening the door to respectful conversation.

NO ONE likes to be dictated to in a superior manner and they will walk away with a bad evaluation of you.

PS...I can't stand Cruz for other reasons than you stated, but I prefer to win people over to my side by NOT smashing them in the face with a boring chart.
You see POLITICS is an art form and requires finesse and diplomacy.
...and stating your point of view in a way so as to not repulse people, but rather get them to listen.
You also have to gage what you say to the audience you are speaking to.
