It would be political suicide for any Republican Senator not to vote for him. The die has been cast. Next will be the midterms and whatever that entails. His first few rulings will be telling. If the damage to the court is as bad as I think it will be then we may see partisanship actually drive us into Constitutional crisis as a good share would refuse to accept him as impartial. The court may actually lose legitimacy. I see him stepping down in a few years anyways once he figures out his presence is poisoning the well.

The court never had legitimacy. There has been a Constitutional crisis since shortly after it was created.

Newsflash:

Susan Collins will retire at the end of her term and is pro-choice
Jeff Flake will retire at the end of his term.
Lisa Murkowski was reelected in 2016 and is pro-choice

Those 3 votes are very much in the air and there is nothing Trump can do about it.

Charge him with perjury and impeach him.

I've never seen so many women this angry before.

I've never seen so many women this angry before.

It will take more than a bunch of angry women to justify an impeachment. It'll take an insane House Speaker.

Oh...wait...if Dems take the House, they WILL have an insane House Speaker...Pelosi.

Yes, Moot...you may be right.

And those women will be voting in six weeks time.

Wow, the Dems haven't even taken the House, yet and you're already frothing at the mouth over the house speaker.

I am no fan of Pelosi, but would luv to see her as Speaker. If only to watch the Rights heads pop off lol

Not frothing. Just responding to your desires with reality.

Huh ? Here's a poll that shows Joe Manchin with a 29 point lead over his GOP challenger if he votes for Kavanugh.

https://www.trafalgarstrategy.com/news/wv-senate-poll-july-18/

If he doesn't, that lead is wiped out and they're running a statistical tie....

So how would a vote for Kavanugh be Politcal suicide for the GOP Senator but a vote against be Politcal suicide for a red State Democrat ?

She'd be a lightening rod, that's for sure. I like Pelosi...but I don't think she should be the speaker again I think the party needs a fresh start with new blood.

The SC is already partisan. The only difference is potentially a solid conservative majority. Even if Kavanaugh gets rejected, Barrett may be the next choice and she will likely get the votes...

Agree

But Pelosi has more balls than Ryan. Eddie Munsters testicals are in Trumps pocket.

Jesus, and people wonder why American politics is a dumpster fire. This attitude is a big part of it. It isn't a question of "which potential speaker is best for the job?" It's now "which potential speaker will piss the opposition off the most?" This is ridiculous. When did this country get so entrenched in this toxic, dangerous, self-defeating "us vs. them" mentality?

Whatever you say, chief. "Joke" or not, my point still stands.

We pack the court the first chance we get.

We pack the court the first chance we get.

Yeah, if I was the next Democrat president, I'd confirm three more SCOTUS picks, bring it to 12 like a jury. I'd throw conservatives a bone and pick a strict constitutionalist conservative (if one could be found without any serious particular pro corporate bias), a more moderate justice and a more liberal, but not far left one. I wouldn't "pack" the court, but I would balance it. Balance is a good thing.

Kavenaugh is not balance. At this point I doubt he could be objective he's frothing at the mouth angry cuz he's being cazlled out on things he doesn't wanna accept responsibility for.

You know it's funny, but a number of folks have said his behavior fits exactly what you'd expect of a man caught for such abuses of women. They rage, they cry, but they guilty as all hell. At this point, they can lie to themselves all they like about it, for the cons, this is about a win, about sticking it to the libs, they could give a crap if he's guilty, if he perjured himself, all that matters is the win. They have no idea how blindly partisan they look either, not a bit about waiting and seeing what investigations turn up, no desire for facts, just disbeieve, slander the women, slander the dems, ignore the perjury and temperment issues, and just win this cuz the libs will be pissed. It's utterly psychotic, and they've no idea.
