Why?
Answer that truthfully....
It isn’t that she finally came out with story...it is how, and when. And then she petitions the senate after all testimony is given to tell her story...and then they relent, when they didn’t have to. But she didn’t just go and testify, she started adding more conditions to her testimony, some of which were downright ridiculous. She wanted the accused to go first? No questions from Kavanaugh’s advocates. Now a woman who has been to Hawaii, claims she is afraid to fly and the testimony can’t happen till Thursday.
Okay...so now we wait and see if she shows and testifies. Myself, I have my doubts. We will see what evidence and testimony she gives....hopefully it is more than what we already know.
Her story is NOT the norm though. And my position is that all women should come forward immediately when they are attacked or harassed. The sooner after the event, the better the chance the authorities will have to actually prosecute the SOB to the fullest extent of the law.
Why do you feel that her story is "not the norm?" What is considered the norm? Something like 70% of sexual assaults go unreported, so what do you consider the norm, considering it's never happened to you?
I don't mean to be rude, but I am going to go back to my original statement to you - you don't understand this, and hopefully never will. Until this type of thing happens to you, you have no idea how you will handle it. Why did she wait until now? Aw, hell. I don't know. Maybe she didn't want to see somebody that *allegedly* sexually assaulted her be on the highest court in the land? Maybe she held it in until now because she didn't want to ruin his life, but now that he is in the position to ruin the lives of others, she decided not to wait anymore. I don't know. I do know that her statement was given to her Congresswoman 6 months ago. Not even sure Kavanaugh was on the radar then - at least for us.
Victims of sexual assault all have different ways of dealing with it. Your sister fought back. Good for her. Not everyone can do that. I didn't, either time. Most women do not. 2 out of 3 do not even report. You can't discount that, or dismiss it, just because you feel it's wrong.
