Here is a partial transcript of the Woodward interview with Hugh Hewitt:

Set aside the Comey firing. Did you, Bob Woodward, hear anything in your research in your interviews that sounded like espionage or collusion?" Hugh Hewitt asked Woodward.

"I did not, and of course, I looked for it, looked for it hard," Woodward answered. "And so you know, there we are. We’re going to see what Mueller has, and Dowd may be right. He has something that Dowd and the president don’t know about, a secret witness or somebody who has changed their testimony. As you know, that often happens, and that can break open or turn a case."

"But you’ve seen no collusion?" Hewitt asked again to confirm.

"I have not," Woodward affirmed.

Hewitt would once again ask Woodward about collusion at the conclusion of the interview.

"Very last question, Bob Woodward, I just want to confirm, at the end of two years of writing this book, this intensive effort, you saw no effort, you, personally, had no evidence of collusion or espionage by the president presented to you?" Hewitt asked.

"That is correct," Woodward said.

Mr. Swampy, his lawyer, and is son have now all taken this statement from Bob Woodward to mean literally that this is proof of no collusion. This a week after they spent days smearing Woodward as a quack journalist that is not to be trusted. Woodward spent two years inside the WH. He knows how the Swamp team operates. So it's not a stretch to imagine Woodward may be placing a trap here.

This is also a completely different tone that Woodward has used in all of his other interview where he rarely talks about Russia. Just how crazy the Swamp team is.

Woodward is trying to get his reputation back. He hopes to knock off another president like he did with Nixon before he dies, but he forgot that people are different now. For all the noise he made his voice as already vanished into the din of the screaming righteous armed with actual bogus facts, rather that unattributed gossip.

Woodward is just another opportunist with benefactors who buy cases of his books and have them shredded as a form of an anonymous donation to keep Woodward off the streets.

Even though the Russians had their tentacles into everything and certainly interfered in the 2016 campaign, I think it is possible that as dumb and ignorant as Trump is, and as inept as his cabinet were, and are, they were unwitting co-conspirators. The thing that will hang Trump, and should, is his obstruction of justice and his absolute corruption going back well before his presidency. And he may have been unknowingly surrounded by people doing Putin's bidding.

No doubt. In the past couple of years I've discovered that, when it comes to Trump, anonymous sources always tell the truth; there really is no such thing as speculation because, ultimately, all that speculation will be proved to be fact; all Republicans are liars and all Democrats are victims of Russian propaganda designed to smear them; leadership at the FBI was really out to get Clinton and cover up for Trump; Trump was never really elected and only got the "win" because white men are all racist and misogynist.




Y'know, it never ceases to amaze how the top "resisters" around here fail to see irony in their comments. I mean, when the story was that the Trump White House was being run by defenders of the Democracy who intentionally cut Trump out of the picture it was the Gospel truth. Yet the same people who saw that as truth not only turn around and suggest that Woodward is just trolling in this latest revelation but they blame the Trump supporters for being the ones who are disingenuous. I mean, DAMN!

Perhaps Woodward should leave that legal conclusion for Mr. Mueller.

I don't see much of a difference between ages 72 and 75. Both men seem to be ancient but still ticking along. One brain is sharp while the other's is paranoid.
 
There was always the possibility that crimes committed in the process of collusion wouldn't have been necessary because it was obvious that Russians were working to help Trump and Trump was happy to receive it. A deeper and more proactive level of cooperation than what we know about what happened in the Trump Tower meeting wasn't strictly necessary. But we'll see.

Those who are extremely excited at the prospect that Mueller will uncover crimes as a result of collusion would be wise to consider Woodward's answers to be a splash of cold water. As I've been saying for nearly a year now, the main actors in this drama are financial crimes and obstruction of justice.

The thing is though Trump does the exact same thing. He makes comments with no source to verify and that's supposed to be ok? I find it comical that he would rail against the same tactic he uses to sway people toward a certain narrative.
