WASHINGTON ― Top White House staffers on Tuesday said that “official” government events are part of President Donald Trump’s efforts to help Republicans in the coming midterm elections ― an admission that public dollars are being used for partisan political purposes.

And your own source admits that past administrations have done the same.

While previous presidential administrations scheduled “official” events in cities where there would also be a fundraiser or political rally in order to lessen the travel costs charged to the campaign, past presidents were careful not to make political statements at the official events.

Floridafan, you forget that Kal'Stang is the designated Trump stooge who will defend him for literally everything because he's an ideologue. He could've condemned this and had some kind of respect for the law, instead he just starts uttering excuses and "what abouts". Well, yes and no. If the Hatch Act is violated and Republicans keep the House, then it will remain a nothingburger. If the Hatch Act is violated and Democrats take the House then there will be investigations. This goes for violations of the Emoluments Clause as well.

It's pretty simple math, really. Republicans retaining control of Congress = de facto legalization of corruption and the disintegration of existing ethics laws. Democrats taking control of at least one chamber of Congress = enforcement of those laws.

You left out the word "illegal". Again. That isn't a good look for someone who believes the truth is important. Immigrant isn't the more important word in the illegal immigrant conversation. It's the illegal aspect that is, and you know it, so why do you intentionally leave out the pertinent fact?
