This is getting some push-back. Scholars saying that Kennedy had no right to interfere with the process let alone dictate it. May prove trouble for him (Kavanaugh) in future hearings. But it looks worse for Mr. Swampy who told his supporters that Mr Kavanaugh would be the best choice, despite not talking to him about their signature issue, abortion. Mr. Swampy who put on a HUGE show teasing Kavanaugh. Who is anything but anti-establishment, btw. So how do you feel about Kennedy helping Mr. Swampy pick the SCOTUS choice?

(CNN)For all his bluster and choreographed suspense, President Donald Trump's blockbuster Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh was all but locked in from the start. Of course, the President put on a show for the cameras, materializing before a national TV audience Monday night at the White House to end a selection process he had spooled out for nearly two weeks.

Kavanaugh pick was scripted end to Trump's reality show

Anthony Kennedy agreed to retire if Trump promised to replace him with Brett Kavanaugh: report

Most likely Kennedy wanted to ensure that SCOTUS was in good hands and that Mr. Swampy didn't Swamp it up. Good for Democracy, not so good for Swampy base.

The President can choose as he see's fit.

He can seek advice from any sources, including congressional leaders, public figures, legal experts, special interests, his wife, or his plumber.

There are no "rules" on how he has to pick a nominee.

Regardless of how he ends up making his choice, he still needs consent of the Senate in order for the nominee to join the Court.

Yep, just like the constitution says - the horror! Was it not Obama that reminded us that "elections have consequences" and "I won"?

That was such a long time ago and you know what happens to history. ;)

Scalia proposed Kagan;

Your point ??

Seriously, I've never seen so many seemingly reasoned, intelligent people give up their reasoning and intellect in favor of believing rumors. TDS is a terrible thing.

Better than believing lies.

Really?

A lie: Either it is or it isn't.

A rumor: You have no idea if it is or it isn't.

You'll take the rumor?

Yes, the President lies constantly. The Press does not. People have made threads about the media's so-called lies on this forum and they can come up with ten really bad examples of the media lying (rather making a mistake) then there is a recorded 3000+ of Mr. Swampy's lies. If you choose not to believe the press that is your prerogative. They were doing a really bad job insulting him last night.

There have been thousands of articles from the media that are based on rumors from...well, nobody has the faintest idea who the rumors are from...and there are millions of people (including you) who believe those rumors to be fact.

TDS has destroyed you.

Really?

And the President walked away from a private chat with the retiring justice convinced that Kavanaugh -- who once clerked for Kennedy -- was the top choice, the sources said.
Trump did go through the process. He interviewed several other candidates and spoke to scores of aides and friends as he mulled his decision -- and even after he made his choice.
When I filled out my recent application, they asked to provide my previous employer's info so they could check up on me.

Sounds like you are the one who has been destroyed since that's ALWAYS, let me repeat, ALWAYS how the press has operated. I can't take someone serious for supporting a guy who once made up his own sources as his own PR guy. So....You fail.

More fake news from CNN.

CNN didn't say that, they said the WH denied Kennedy influenced the pick.

The other site did say that, but it was based on a single tweet. Which isn't good enough.

Trump picking someone like Kavanough is unusual, so it is quite possible that factored into the decision. But we need more sources to do more than speculate.

No. It's not ALWAYS how the press has operated. There used to be the day when they actually cited sources by name. Not anymore.

When was this mythical time period and why are you refusing to talk about the topic? you always lose the media bias debates, you might want to try sticking on topic for once.

NBC has a source saying it to. Shah doesn't deny. Just deflects.

The topic? You mean that rumor? What's there to say about it?

Oh...wait...that's right. You think rumors are truth.

The media has trained you well.

Shah just deflected the "rumor," what does that tell you?

I was pleasantly surprised by the Gorsuch pick. That was a good job, and it gave me a little hope because it meant that Trump, a Beltway naif, was actually listening to wise counsel.

If the advice is solid, who cares from whence it came?

I think suggesting to a friend, and dictating to the President in a meeting are two very different things don't ya think? Everyone was surprised that Scalia (Mr. Conservative Hero) suggested it.

"dictating" How the hell did you come up with that descriptor ?? Neither of your links said dictated.

Besides, if Trump is supposed to be such an authoritarian how do you figure someone dictated to him ??

This is just the beginning. The rad left will scour every toilet they can find and sling everything hoping something sticks. Public opinion is all they have and they know it.
