Agreed. They were men, just as the men of today. Susceptible to many of the same strengths and weaknesses.

The point being, and I may have been smitten with a spell of excessive English or something, is that its hard for present day people to place themselves back in those times in order to be able to judge those ancestor's actions and behaviors by today's standards and sensibilities.

Also, that there were actions and behaviors from the same that transcend the time that's passed.

I judge them by the time they were in. It is unfair to expect them to have completely modern ldeals
