If Trump was smart - no Nominee vote

We already have an issue or two. President Trump is working on them. Others are working out. Got the immigrant vetting temporary delay under control. Turns out it wasn't a religious ban after all. Got the Paris situation under control. Little Kimmie actually came to a sit down. The first in 70 years. A couple SC picks on the way or done.

Still a few to go. 6 more years should do it.

Nice try, but if you want to weigh in SCOTUS picks, win an election.

We did win the support of the American people. But the will of the people was overridden by the Electoral College who then failed to function as promised. It became a lose lose proposition for the American people.

On the contrary. The EC functioned exactly as intended. Concentration of power in a couple population centers would destroy the country.

It sounds like you are unfamiliar with Federalist 68 in which Madison attempted to sell the nation on the Constitution and why they should accept the EC instead of direct election. In it Madison explains the chief threat against the nation and how the EC will protect us from it.

If you read it, you will soon see that the EC did NOT function as promised and the protections promised by the EC failed to be exercised in 2016. So it most certainly did fail to function as promised.

Everyone on the right is "fringe" "far right" or "extreme" by your Alinsky standards.

If you're so smart, why can't you win?

You might want to wait until after November before making claims on winning.

The Trumkpkins continue to play ostrich and hide their collective heads in the sand enjoying what they call victories. They remind me of teams that think winning regular season games are so special. They don't realize that they are about to get wiped out in the championships when it all counts for real. In this case, the championships, are named for a man named Robert Mueller and he is about to lay some hurt on Trump that no small Supreme Court win can ever compare to.

Why? This week alone was full of wins.

Really? He was forced to end his policy in removing children from their parents, the North Korean government has been photographed violating what trump said they were going to do, more tarrifs on the US with more jobs being lost and more to come along with higher prices for everything, just to mention some of your wins. Keep lying to yourself but sooner or later even you will run out if excuses

If Trump was smart he would nominate some right wing fringe judge for the Kennedy vacancy but then have McConnell exercise his 2016 rule to allow the American people to have a voice on it. What it would do is serve as the focal point to motivate the base and give them a centerpiece issue. It could boost turnout on the right and for Republicans.

And even if by some miracle the Dems took the Senate, the day after he election in November they could rush the Trump confirmation through and seat him in a couple of weeks while they still had a majority.

Either way - Trump wins.

But he is not that smart and instead go for the slam dunk right away.

Since Republicans decided that the upcoming election should decide the Supreme Court Justice we should wait for next January to appoint the next one according to the McConnell Rule.

And it would be a serious sign of disrespect to Senator McConnell if we all did not kneel and observe that sacred rule.

We should honor the McConnell rule on a yearly basis with a sacred ceremony.

Count me in to bring a votive candle.

We can call it a McCandle

I'll bring my gong. We can even extend the rule so that if there is a future election we don't appoint a Supreme Court justice so we can have this debate every time one dies.

I like it. In fact how about a rule which says you cannot appoint a Supreme Court justice within two years of any election?
