Seriously, Every time Swampy talks especially recently. I have no idea what he is saying. Recently he was saying that we tamed the nation when we invaded America. He said that Melania was looking out the window when she wasn't even there. He said there were spies in the campaign. When they weren't there. He says the cancelled meeting w/NOKO is not cancelled and will still happen. I mean every time this President speaks, there are multiple ways to interpret what he says. He also blames Democrats for everything that his own administration does. For example, he often touts Republican candidates as Strong on Borders, but then when policies that rip families apart are exposed, he says, "Democrats made me do it!"

Then he continues to complain about fake witch hunts, and fake news. Maybe if he was just a bit freaking clearer in what he says and not exaggerate everything and add pointless words to sentences in order to hear his own voice for a longer period of time. He wouldn't be "targeted," as much as he is. The majority of the scandals that he finds himself in are of his own doing. If the press says that's uncommon for a President to do it's uncommon for the President to do. They aren't attacking him. They are pointing it out. There are people in the press getting paid to fact check the President and try to make sense out of his ramblings. None of this is OK and it's not a "style," unless you wanna call trolling a style.

To echo RabidAlpaca, it is quite simply impossible to paraphrase Trump without turning what he said into something more intelligible. The human brain insists on creating order out of disorder. NevertrumpGOP is unintentionally guilty of this.

When you get his statements straight from the source and read ALL of the speech/tweet and not pick apart the bits you just happened to think were relevant, they turn into pure, unintelligible lunacy.

It's Maggie Haberman's theory that this is a deliberate strategy meant to make him more relatable to his base. This is supported by private conversations that have trump sounding almost as though he had completed high school.

Don't worry about it. He's just saying this stuff to set media narrative. To given them something to talk about.

What's more important is watching what he does.

Why shouldn't I worry that he is throwing political discourse back into the stone age???? Actions and words can both have the same affect.

Actions and words rarely have the same effect. Heck, they are rarely the same thing at all when it comes to "political discourse".

For example, when McCain was running for reelection back in 2016, he told his voters that he would get rid of Obamacare. His voters believed him. But what did he do? He was the key vote that kept Obamacare. That's the difference between actions and words.

Maybe what we need is tossing it back into the stone age when people were more honest.

Well I beg to differ. W/this President they DO have the same affect. w/his daily tweetstorms he often upends policy or meetings that were set way in advance. When he is a paranoid lunatic trying to discredit our justice system and our laws, he is a danger to this country w/the words that spill out of his mouth on a daily basis.

Funny how you say McCain not getting rid of Obamacare was a bad action he took. Yet when Trump just lied to his voters about Obamacare being dead, when it actually (still) isn't. You don't even mention it and aren't bothered by it one bit. You can't win when you say Trump's actions are better than his words, because this is a man who slept w/ a pornstar and used dirty tactics to cover it up before the election... and he actually hasn't talked about that at all so...

I didn't see Trump tell people he would get rid of Obamacare...and then try his damnest to keep it. That's what McCain did. He outright lied to his voters.

Are you serious???

No, Trump Hasn’t ‘Essentially Repealed Obamacare’

After one year of Trump, Obamacare is actually doing fine

Trump Declared Obamacare 'Dead.' Nearly 12 Million Americans Signed Up for It This Year

He says Obamacare is dead, while millions still register. He's doing the same thing as McCain did. You don't win the argument just because you like Swampy and not McCain. That's not how this works.

Who stopped Congress from ending Obamacare?

You are 100% wrong.

What we are going through today makes me feel guilty for the relentless beating we inflicted on Quayle for misspelling "potato."

This is about what Swampy says, and also how sometimes it's the opposite of what he does, not about Obamacare. Swampy said Obamacare is dead. It isn't. The great dealmaker fails again.

Yes. That was all that he did that was stupid.

Swampy can't even spell his own wife's name. Everything any other politician has said or has done pales in comparison.

Prove he can't spell her name...

I think this is what's being referred to. My guess is either his assistant or Trump himself fell victim to auto correct. There is also the distinct possibility "Melanie" is some other woman we will soon find out about.....

Private Trump: "You know why I do it? I do it to discredit you all and demean you all, so when you write negative stories about me no one will believe you.”

Public Trump: [garbled nonsense]

It's not an accident.

Yup that's what I was thinking. AC usually corrects to a word you commonly use. Though there aren't too many pornstars named Melanie apparently. (I checked.)

That or as Cardinal alluded to, he purposefully misspelled her name for nefarious reasons.
