After decades of deception & denial, the left finally admit to their goal of 2nd amendment repeal

As always, the left are pushing their fundamentally dishonest, anti-2nd amendment propaganda. When you listen to them(the media, democrats, progressive activists), you would think that gun crime is way up since the early 90s when the 1994 assault weapons ban was enacted. But the truth is that gun crime has dropped almost in half since then! There are MANY other intentional lies told by the leftist elite in the media and elsewhere, but that's a whole other topic.

We have known for a LONG time that the left want to completely repeal the 2nd amendment and have the govt forcibly disarm tens of millions of law abiding Americans(as usual, it's conservatives who must 'sacrifice' in the name of left wing political advancement, never progressives).

For decades they have denied a plan to repeal or weaken constitutional rights, or specifically disarm the population). But all along we have known better. If only progressives took the time to verify the daily propaganda that they are fed, they would realize how much THEY have been deceived as well.

We support the NRA, because they not only protect that one civil liberty, but they also help prevent the left from setting a legal precedent of civil liberties repeal. That's because we know they WILL NOT stop with just 1 amendment. Given time and power, the left will make it illegal For a citizen to dissent against their govt. They are setting the framework and precedent for that in the UK and Canada now.

Right now, all you have to do is Google "repeal 2nd amendment", and you'll see activist journalists at the NYT, PBS, and elsewhere, calling for the population to be disarmed completely. That's in addition to certain democrats, radical judges, etc.

In other words, they were lying all along, and now they have manipulated a small minority of Americans to support them. As I mentioned earlier^, you progressives are being deceived every day, and although it won't be you who sacrifices if this happens(as usual), eventually you WILL sacrifice! That's because this political movement is going to lead to oppression and unhappiness that makes 2018 look like the best year ever.....

Once again a stupid post about "the left" that unknown, vicious and cruel is ruining America.

I am sure that the parents of the slaughtered children will be grateful to hear that the statistics are dropping. I am certain that will help them with their grief.

I am sure also that the students who turned out in the millions to say "we don't want to be ****ing targets anymore" will now be able to feel safe because YOU SAY, without any attribution that statistics are dropping.

And, I am sure it will aid in reaching understanding and re-uniting the country with innocent victims, wounded physically and emotionally now able to breath again because you say numbers are dropping.

Being that the United States is the only nation on earth that continues to allow the murder and slaughter of children without so much as a day of mourning, that those declining numbers will soon stop declining and rise again. You're the only jurisdiction that even has that statistic.

If you pause just a minute and view what's happening in purely humanistic terms, you cannot deny you are not that far removed from the middle ages. You go nuts over abortion, but allow the same grown fetuses to become targets. What a ****hole

Yep, we all have secret meetings behind every Whole Foods store and sing about how we're coming to take your guns away during our drum circles!

For eight years right-wing nuts were ringing their hands about how Barack Obama was coming for their guns. Right-wing militias were buying out WalMarts of guns and ammo and hoarding them in their "Dr. Suess" style huts.

Smith and Wesson really appreciates it when righties spew the "they're coming to get my guns" paranoia. It drives their gun sales way up. Do gun manufacturers pay a commission for doing this?

I am both left leaning and do not advocate for total gun bans. That would describe most of us, to some extent or another.

So...the question is, since this has been repeated over and over again, why do these threads keep popping up?

Is it because folks on the Right are completely stupid? No...I don't think so, anyway.

Is it because some folks identifying with the right like to stir the pot to ensure continued division? Hmm...

If you are conservative and pro gun, don't believe the hype. Calling for an end to children dying in schools doesn't equate to #BanAllGuns If you want to generalize those of us on the Left that think similarly about guns as you do, you essentially force us to live up to your expectations. As mentioned a million times, this isn't Left vs. Right, this is folks who get guns vs. those who do not. Divisive posts like this essentially guarantee that the gap will grow wider.

All I see are the usual insults and denials. Where exactly am I "uninformed"? Did you not Google, "repeal the 2nd amendment" like I said in the OP? You have progressives from the media, to retired supreme court judges calling for a repeal for God's sake! These are the SAME leftists who always deny wanting to repeal the 2nd amendment, yet here they are, calling for repeal!

Obviously you didn't actually read the post. I never said that ALL progressives want a total gun ban. But a LOT of the leftists who have always denied a desire to ban guns outright, ARE NOW CALLING FOR REPEAL. I also pointed out a neat new method of learning about new realities in the world. Its called Googling! See, if you pay attention AND use commonly available tools to verify claims, you too can easily learn whether or not a claim is true! Is it that you just don't want to know that what we have been saying for years is starting to look like it may be true?

Stop personally insulting people! I'm pretty sure there are rules against calling someone an a**hole! This is supposed to be a place for intelligent debate, not bitter, angry personal insults. What I posted is true, all you have to do is READ AND USE GOOGLE to learn the truth! It's literally seconds away. My denial is because it's not true. Just because a few people say that's what should happen or what they'd like to happen, does not show a concerted political movement with any backing to overturn the second amendment. What you're portending is just more baseless right-wing folly with a mission toward trashing anybody who doesn't t think like you do. Moreover, I've been warning the right-wing for years now that this kind of thinking is going to get more and more popular because the NRA nor those of you on the right can offer anything of any use to stem the tide of "guns trending" as the only solution to problems. You should be worried about an entire generation of voters coming into the game, who don't think like you do and will be raising children who will be voters as well. The very best thing that can be done now in order to save the second amendment, which I am for, is to make the whole "gun thing" go away, by the right-wing shutting up instead of pouring gasoline on the fire, stores and other outlets that sell gun magazines to stop selling them at their places, and for the whole thing to just stop getting into people's minds, and just maybe we can go back to the way things were when nobody worried about any of it.

OR you guys on the right can keep on going like "the liberal hoard" is taking away your right to keep and bear and then just watch the second amendment draw more fire until it evaporates. Maybe that's the mission of your overlords; who knows. Guns are the last thing that despots want in a society.

K, so, I get you're concerned, and maybe I was too mouthy in my response, looks like I was in a mood... But Mod, there is no statistical evidence that supports your concern. The people that want to see the 2nd repealed have nowhere near the numbers required to actually do it. All you have is a small minority fringe...significant and vocal, sure, but what the numbers should tell you is that there is still a lot of folks on the left that are willing to engage, and don't feel your right should be taken away.

What is your solution to the problem? What do you say that's better than what the #RepealThe2nd folks are saying? Maybe now's a good time to start talking about that, before this actually becomes a "Left vs. Right" issue, because we all know how ****ed it will be then...hehe... ;)

Fact check: false. firearm-related murders took a sudden drop from an average of 14,000/yr to about 9000/yr near about the end of the 90's, and has remained relatively level since. There is no ongoing average drop in firearm-related murders.

This is what is funny to me. I live in Mississippi so unfortunately I have met more racist people then I would care to meet, however I have yet to meet an actual Nazi or White Nationalist. The idea that it is some widespread ideology seems rather far fetched to me, they held a national rally in Charlottesville and like 500 people showed up. More people show up to furry conventions then Nazi rallies.

Playing devils advocate here.

Not long after the Charlottesville rallies when Heather Heyer was ran over there was a lot of arguments about Nazi's, Neo-Nazi's, white supremacists etc etc. One of the oft times repeated reasons for shutting down rallies completely, not even allowing them in the first place, was because it gave them a platform to speak. To spread their hate speech in order to grow. Anyone that pointed out how small those groups actually were often got scoffed at and told to look at history. Examples of Hitler and how he came into power were used. How he started out small and grew.

So, whats to stop this "repeal the 2nd amendment" group that you say is small from growing larger based on the same argument?

Note that I don't believe it will be repealed. Though I do believe that pro-gun control folks will attempt to get the 2nd Amendment re-interpreted as that would be easier than repealing a part of the BoR's.
