Funny how many conservatives are only fiscally conservative when it suits their political agenda. When it comes to the military and border 'security' then the sky is the limit. Luckily there are the rare breeds who stay ideologically consistent, like Rand Paul. Trump supporters keep saying it would 'only' cost $8-#12 billion. When was the last time a government cost estimate was anywhere close to the reality? I think Paul is closer with his $40 billion estimate, or $21 million per mile. Also, don't forget about the declarations of eminent domain that will be necessary to build the wall. Will conservatives be hypocrites on that issue, too?

I agree that the Great Wall of Trump is largely symbolic and that many other solutions (e.g. federal bounties to state/local LEOs for assisting ICE and the border patrol) would be much more cost effective. The bottom line is that this source of low wage labor is not going to be removed or even seriously reduced - the "job creators" are major donors of campaign cash (legal bribes?) and do not want more effective immigration law enforcement measures.

Let's just cut off the $400 million per year that they get in foreign aid. We'll see how they negotiate if we threaten to take that away.

I can't believe we are even discussing this, this is how dumb this country has become. I need to move to Europe or Canada, this country has become a disgrace

I'm not big on the wall but it's not the worst thing to do. Certainly more effective than inviting them over and promising to give them amnesty along with cradle to grave government benefits. Yeah, I can safely say Trump's wall idea is much better than the Dems idea of unlimited unchecked amnesty and benefits.

Yes. Please do so. Don't forget, France's Marcon has given Americans a carte blanche invitation to flee to his country and yet so few liberals have taken them up on the offer. Why is that? Is it because Europe's immigration laws are too strict?

Rand Paul is the GOP's equivalent to the dems' Bernie Sanders:

Rand Paul: Don't spend tax $ on such and such.

Bernie Sanders: Spend tax $ on everything for everybody.
