Lowering the bar to the left seems to mean record employment, historically(Pre recession level) unemployment/part time for economic reasons, GDP returning to above 3%, focus on economic growth and activity, America first foreign and economic policies, elimination of the PC mentality, and open honest discussion of what progressive/liberalism means to the average American(Dependence)

Yes there was a PR battle, Haliburton, Cheney shooting his friend in the face, Bush misspoke this or that, etc. But nothing like post 2008. Republicans lowered standards when they went into full trench warfare mode, stonewalling Obama at every turn and attacking him on every front. Given the choice, I'd have much rather inherited the Obama Economy than the Bush Economy.
