WISC: Dem takes GOP held Senate seat

Poor Paul Ryan must be pooping his pants.

He may have to get a real job, maybe he could drive the Oscar Meyer wiener mobile again...
Oh wait they moved out of his district and the state.

Only none government job he has ever had. Also he lived of social security as a child and through school. Not that there is anything wrong with that, he is just hypocritical to try to take it away from other people in the same situation he was in.

This is exactly why white middle America elected Trump and will do so again..

Democrats just don't get it. And when we step up to the plate they are outnumbered...

You're right.
Democrats don't get why poverty in areas where Democrats dominate is due to the Democrats, but poverty in areas dominated by Republicans is not due to Republicans.
Please explain how that could be.

So, and this is just going by your logic, the GOP heavy bible belt has raging poverty, and that's why you felt the need to expand the national power of the GOP? Uh....uhmmm...

Ok?

Well it's easier to say "you democrats/liberals just don't get it" than it is to explain how it's possible to hold these two conflicting beliefs simultaneously.

I always wondered about that. "Detroit and Chicago are dumps, proving liberal policies fail" totally ignoring the RAMPANT poverty in the bible belt. Convenient, that.

Like all cities, some parts are worse than others - I travel to Chicago about 5 times a year. I've never not enjoyed it.

Detroit's demise had nothing to do with "liberals Democrats". It was the shipping of factories out of state or overseas - something the GOP's corporate masters turn a blind eye to.

He's one of the worst hypocrites - I quite agree.

It's not too difficult to explain how it's possible to hold two conflicting beliefs simultaneously: George Orwell explained it very well. It's called "doublethink."

That doesn't fit the narrative, ergo it may as well be peanuts-adults speak. I'm still at a loss how a person can believe that Democrat run areas that have financial woes are Democrats' faults, yet the massive swaths of poverty in GOP areas are not GOPs faults.

Fun stuff, that is. Doublethink, cognitive dissonance, an outright denial of anything outside acceptable narratives, whataboutisms, all tools needed to construct a mental house of cards.

It's no different that Trump and GOP politicians blaming the Dems forcing a government shutdown - when they own and control everything - the recent tax plan passed without any Democratic votes.

honestly, it's posts like this that make me hope for another civil war. The most divisive sides of our voting public should totally purge each other.

Better question, who would want to? Unless you live in a rural area, Michigan is a **** hole for sure.

Yes, all blue states and big cities are terrible places to live. Let's all migrate to farms with no running water.

Umm...how the hell do you think crops are watered so that they can grow if they don't have running water?

He is my congressman and he is a centrist and I really like him, he is not anti gun,.he comes back nearly every year for deer season ( and not just for photo ops). He isa true representative.

Yeah, I don't know too much about Kind, but I know that he is better than some other state representatives... I absolutely cannot stand my representative, Mark Pocan, but Madison gets all the say in who gets elected, and District 2 pretty much always goes 75%/25%, which unsurprisingly enough is exactly what the urban/rural split is in my district...

Yah being a conservative it would be difficult to live in that part of the state, just as a liberal would be uncomfortable around Waukesha.

I live in the rural driftless area. We have our extremists on both sides but overall were pretty moderate and try to choose the best person for the job. Trump being the exception to the rule...

It was an over exaggeration on my part.

Yeah I know but...no offense but it was a rather lame one. It attempted to paint a picture of city life being more advanced and forward thinking while those that lived on farms (country folks) are all backward idiots. That kind of broad brush stroke does a serious disservice to any argument.

But you must admit that generally speaking, urban populations have higher educational attainment rates than rural populations. This is not at all a function of liberalism or conservatism, but of the simple facts that (1) those in cities have significantly more interaction with many more different types of people than those in rural areas do, and (2) universities by their very nature must be in cities, and in major cities, there are often clusters of major or otherwise well-regarded universities - and this cannot be said of rural areas.

Again, that's all generally speaking...but while correlation does not imply causation, the cause of the correlation is simply that the more people there are, the more interaction there will be...and the more exposed they will generally be to advanced and forward thinking. In a rural area, you might consider a day when you interact with twenty other people a very busy day...whereas in the city, that's a very low number indeed. And having grown up in the boonies and having lived in a megalopolis, that is my experience.
