Hatch not running -Romney east favorite

Sadly, the Republicans who control Congress have demonstrated to the nation that their role in checks and balances is not worth the toilet paper they used this morning and they take that no more seriously. Any chance of impeachment will not realistically happen unless the Dems take by the House via the vote this coming November. Only then will the votes be there as the GOP has demonstrated they will not oppose Trump no matter what the evidence says.

Your delusional.

Trump goes no were till some one else is elected in a general election... To think and hope other wise is a fools game for sure.

So be one.

I tend to agree. I have not studied Romney's MO as closely as I have Trump's over the last couple of years, but assuming he does not vindictively carry a grudge--President Trump does not--he should be an asset to the Senate.

Like President Trump, Romney is excellent at assessing what the problem is and devising a fix for it. Unlike President Trump he is far more the quintessential politician, however, and while he would be more tactful, he might not be as unimpressed with the status quo and therefore be more inclined to let things ride than President Trump has been willing to do. In other words, I don't see Romney as the determined reformer that President Trump is.

I agree that Romney would have been a far superior choice over Obama in 2012, and I did vote for him though he was not my first choice to the be the nominee that year. I don't know if he has the personality to inspire any significant improvements though. Would the GOP have regained the Senate in 2014 if things had gotten marginally better under Romney? Hard to say.

I do think he will be a decent Senator unless he comes in with an underlying motive to hurt President Trump.

Romney's part of the swamp.

That would be because there is no evidence that would lead any sane person to pursue impeachment.

If Mueller will find enough evidence to come forward with a report to Congress that either insinuates or recommends proceedings against the President, they would.

But, in all actuality, impeachment is nearly whatever the majority of Congress says it is.

I would have phrased that: . . .because there is no evidence that would lead any intellectually honest person to pursue impeachment.

I know Romney has said some pretty incendiary things along those lines so we'll see if that carries over to a Senator Romney term of office. His quarrel with Trump seems to be much more aesthetic than substantial as is almost all criticism of President Trump.

Orrin Hatch announced he will not run for re-election for his Senate seat in Utah where he is the longest serving GOP Senator and has served seven terms.

This clears the way for the very popular Mitt Romney to sweep in and take the seat and be a thorn in the side of Trump who he despises.

Utah Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch to retire - CNNPolitics

This could be fun to watch.

Sounds like we get to watch Mitt Romney embarrass himself some more...The Mormons would elect him, the Left would try to love him like they try to love Kasich, but he would sell to fly-over country like warm stale beer.

Were is all the new blood, why do we keep seeing these old failed people thinking that they have something in the tank to offer the nation when they have shown no signs of such in a very long time?

Insulting me with schoolyard names is not debate. I would advise you to acquire copy of the Constitution and read it and discover what the role of Congress is and what the power of impeachment is.

It may be the only thing that can save us from a mad would-be narcissistic tyrant who has no respect for anyone or anything other than himself.

Other than voters in 2020....

There is plenty of evidence to tell the world that the Executive Branch is in the hands of a narcissistic pathological liar who has no loyalties but to himself and his own cult of personality and his instability and ignorance represent the greatest threat to this nation in the last half century or more. That is plenty of reason to impeach.

Zzzzz. Oh, I'm sorry. Did you say something?

I have no delusions about Mittens - save that he will do the right thing when he has to cast a vote should impeachment be placed in front of him and he does his duty to the people.

As to new blood ... that is an excellent question as it seems we have an extreme shortage of that in supply in both parties.

nothing that you would comprehend or understand even if one cared to expound upon the reality you reject

I imagine the sound of your frightened response is such as the noise made by the denying ostrich consoling himself in the thickness of the warm sands ......

I don't know man.

In the Senate, five of the 22 Republicans on the relevant committees are new since that debate. But the experience drop is starker in the House, where 43 of the 77 Republicans on the three relevant committees were elected after the health care legislation became law.

What new members lack in legislative experience, some say, they could make up for by*bringing new ideas from outside of the nation’s capital.

That went well, didn't it?

If there were any evidence we would know it by now. Not only that, but with the knowledge that the Russian investigation stems from the Clinton/DNC paid for report of Trump in Russia, there should have never been this investigation in the first place...

Just more garbage from the losers in the election.

Even better.....why when I read the so-called journalists do I rarely hear anyone wanting to talk about how weak our political system is as evidence by in our time of need we have so many failed old people running around telling us that they want one more chance to do it right....and there are few younger better people telling them no?

It is not only Washington that has completely failed us..

You insult yourself with our rediculous over the top Trump hating, Trump bitching, Trump ass hurt posts.

You need to move to another country as azz hurt as you seem to be. :2wave: Tell you what, I will send the truck to move you to a much more liberal/socialist country at your pleasure. You obviously hate America and it's people. Why torment yourself living here with Trump. You have the option to leave this nation. And I for one think we would be better off it you did!

You insult yourself...

No - it is you who have done so with your personal attacks against me and your refusal to debate the positions I take.

But there is no surprise there as that has been your style and your method since you have shown up here. Why would it change now?

Yup. The same Romney that said that 47% of the country was dependent on the government.

Still better than Hatch.
"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it -- that that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. ... These are people who pay no income tax. ... [M]y job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

What part of that do you disagree with?

:lamo

You hate this country and it's leader. I give you a chance to move out.....

Trump hate is just a symptom of a larger disorder you so obviously have....

Besides there is no debating with you. If it isn't going your way, you will start asking for me to satisfy your requests for information already accepted by most, or would require hours to build, just so you could say I refute it, and claim you "won" something.

You don't debate, you just claim your ideas are correct and should be the law of the land...

Funny to see you so azz hurt by our President. Kudos Mr. Trump!

:lamo

You .....

This is not about me and never has been. You should debate the issues and stop attacking those who disagree with you by trying to demonize them.

I agree with your comments about Romney. Well said. This would have been a good post had to stuck the subject at hand and not compounded things with your baseless editorial silliness.

I don't like his politics, but he is a class guy that I believe will actually put America first. He would be a meaningful counterweight to Trump and most of the Republican Party that is only interested in putting Trump and Republicans first. We ain't getting a Dem in Utah. A Republican that isn't a wackadoo is an upgrade to the Senate.

The simple fact that President Obama laughed at Mitt Romney during one of the debates when he posited that Russia was the number one threat in the world, if for no other reason, is enough to make your charge of "baseless editorial silliness" as inane as President Obama's laughter. Even most Democrats, after Ukraine, Syria, the supposed interference in the last US election, would admit that Romney got it right back in 2012.

You wear your ass hurt here in every anti Trump post you make. :2wave: Most of them are over the top rants about how Trump should be removed from office. If you really feel that way, I am personally extending an offer to send a truck to move your ass to some place on the globe were you will find the happiness you aren't finding here.....

I attack Trump as part of honest debate of a nation issue before the American people. That is part of honest debate about politics and our government.

You attack me with insults for doing so without any mention of the actual issue.
