Not only are they giving the Multi-Millionaires and Billionaires huge tax cuts, but they're letting them easily invest money towards politics, and take deductions while doing it. Only 23% of Americans support the Tax Bill, but they're shoving it down the throats of Americans. Vote these idiots OUT in 2018 and 2020!!!

A small provision in the House version of the bill would let big donors secretly give unlimited amounts to independent political groups — and write off the contributions as charitable gifts.

"You not only get to help that candidate with a big contribution, it's not going to be publicized and you're going to be able to take a tax deduction on top of it," said Michael Franz, a political scientist, who analyzes political advertising with the Wesleyan Media Project.

That’s disgusting. It’s serving the whole of Congress... just the way they want it.

No. NOT the "whole of Congress". Just the side that shoved through the legislation without allowing the other side any input whatsoever into the bill, without allowing any debate at all. Remember, it was the Democrats who adamantly opposed allowing corporations to dump as much money as they wanted into campaign donations (Citizens United). And it was the liberals on SCOTUS who voted against it, and it was the conservatives on the court who voted for it. And it was the GOP who celebrated the win...

...and the slashing of corporate taxes we have just seen is the direct result.

So please don't try to blame all of Congress - that's a false equivalence. Blame the side that's been supporting this for many years. Do NOT blame the side that tried to stop it from happening.

It's Congress. It's not "liberal Congress" and "conservative Congress". Its Congress. The Dems may not have openly supported it but they can't feign helplessness. The filibuster is a thing. The Dems scream and holler but don't invoke it.

No surprise here. The GOP tax bill is all about kowtowing and pleasing wealthy individual/corporate political donors.

Are you kidding? This will help both sides of the aisle. If it stays in, it’s frightening.

November 2018 is less than a year away. Large voter turn out, republicans hate. Let's give them something to hate. Let the party of the pedophile and perv in chief find out what Americans really think.

Ya! no argument here. So what's the answer? Write letters, call their office. Let your voices be heard.

Serving the status quo. I don't think we want that. We need to vote out every politician in office. Good and bad because the bad have good camoflage.

Because they cannot.

Reconciliation is a legislative process of the United States Congress that allows expedited passage of certain budgetary legislation on spending, revenues, and the federal debt limit with a simple majority vote in both the House (218 votes) and Senate (51 votes). Senate rules prohibit filibustering and impose a 20-hour cap on the total time for debate, motions and amendments related to reconciliation bills. The procedure also exists in the House of Representatives, but the House regularly passes rules that constrain debate and amendments, so reconciliation has had a less significant impact on that body.

Oh, I so agree with you. Term limits. We should be screaming for term limits. Congress is NEVER going to agree, but we should scream nonetheless. And as far as voting the bums out? I couldn’t agree more. Every last one of them. Look up congressman in the dictionary. Pretty sure you’ll see a picture of a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Wrong answer. Only one side pushed to open the floodgates of corporate funding...and that was the GOP. The Dems have opposed allowing unlimited corporate funding for decades.

It benefits very single one of them.

Tax cut can benefit me, and I can still be against them. Get your baloney logic out of here. This is a republican tax bill and it will be signed by a republican president you voted for: take some personal responsibility.

One More Thing to Hate About the Republican Tax Bill

the Republicans are going to try to use the resulting deficits to steal your Medicare and Social Security benefits.

Found this pretty interesting. Notice how corporations around the world have a much lower tax rate than here in the US.

A research paper published this week by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago includes the above chart, highlighting the tax burdens of all 35 OECD countries as of 2014. With a tax burden of 25% — a measurement that includes income, property, and various other taxes — the U.S. is near the very bottom, well below the overall average of 34%. It ranks below all the measured countries except Korea, Chile, and Mexico.

Trump and other Republicans are right about one aspect of U.S. taxes, however. When it comes to taxing corporate profits, the U.S. does indeed have one of the highest nominal maximum rates in the world, at 35%.

The new study’s authors looked in particular at how the U.S. tax regime stacks up against Germany’s — a nation they chose because its economy resembles that of the U.S., and because Trump has said Germany’s trade surplus with the U.S gives it an upper hand economically.

And U.S. corporations are in fact paying higher income taxes than German ones. As it happens, deductions and other tax strategies mean relatively few U.S. corporations actually get stuck paying the maximum nominal 35% rate, instead paying about 20% on average. But that is still higher than the comparable 15% effective rate that German corporations pay, according to the Chicago Fed estimates.

Who Pays More in Taxes? U.S. vs. Europe, Developed Countries | Money

Can a Conservative show where they cut out any corporate loopholes? How about making it illegal to have a po box in another country as a corporate HQ so that you can avoid paying taxes. Why is this still allowed? Especially if you are cutting the corporate tax rate 40%

Oh, both sides of the aisle just love people like you... those who blame a side. So easy to pander to. “Look what they did now!!” In the meantime, taking every advantage that THEIR donors will be able to do the exact same thing.

I will ignore your insult.

Your cited Money article was somewhat cherry-picked to focus on Corporate taxation. It also demonstrated that the US has one of the lowest individual taxation systems in the world. When the Multi-Millionaires and Billionaires in the US are paying a lesser percentage of Federal tax than their secretaries, janitors, and other working class jobs; something is severely wrong.

What this means is that the ultra-rich of this world can live in the US, and pay less in taxes, than they would, living in almost any other country. This also implies that the ultra-rich buy more political clout in the US, than they could anywhere else in the world.

Yes, that was my purpose. What hurts us more, the corporations in the US getting a lower tax rate, but still higher than other countries, or more US corporations taking their business to other countries?

When the democrat party is no longer accepting money from billionaires like George Soros, then you can talk.

Stop trying to make it a false equivalence - only one side has been pushing to open the floodgates of corporate funding...and it wasn't the Dems.

Yeah, instead the dems are pushing hard for racism and identity politics while siphoning money from billionaires like George Soros. They have their fair share of dark money being put into PAC's that benefit them.

The Dems are far far worse.
