It is pretty clear that plenty of people hate the likes of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. There is also plenty of hatred for figures like Obama and Moore. Are there people out there that both sides love? Is there anyone out there who could run for office that Democrats and Republicans could get behind?

I would have voted for Biden against ... wish Romney had won in 2012... wish he’d have tried again. I could see having voted for Ben Carson. I always wish Condi Rice had run at some time. Given the choice between Bernie Sanders and Trump, I would have voted for Sanders.

I think we have to face the fact the both the Dems and the Repubs put up horrible candidates. Maybe gridlock and divisiveness is what they both wanted all along. Maybe that’s what they ALWAYS want...

I don't "love" any politician. When I think of politicians it isn't a touchy feel emotional kind of thing. In fact I find it a disaster for anyone to make any choices in life solely on emotion.

What I do hold dear are certain principles. Principles like states rights, personal responsibility, individualism, free market, less federal government and halting the over-reach of all 3 branches of the federal government to name a few. Knowing that there is no human being who is perfect, it is his/her principles I hold dear and they claim they stand on is the one that will get my vote.

And if that politician does not hold to those principles I will drop them like a hot potato and support the next one to come along that promises to hold those same principles.

Edit- For the record I voted for Trump. I had two choices. Trump promised to elect jurists to the Supreme Court in the order of Scalia. He delivered.
He has also been successful in getting more jurists in the order of Scalia in several federal courts more than any other president in his first year.
Lifetime appointments. And the rumor is that Kennedy will be announcing his retirement after Thanksgiving. That will give Trump another jurist to appoint to the Supreme Court. In that aspect of his first year as president under the radar has been transforming the Judicial Branch and for me that is very good news.

I'm sorry, I can't think of one I would be thrilled with.

It has been terrifying to me that stacking the courts with young, right wing political hacks has been worth the loss of decency of the right. Rules change, and if you choose to force the courts to a particular political bias, then don't be surprised if the seat numbers change. There is nothing in the Constitution that says SCOTUS has to be 9 seats. It can 12, 15, or 100. Undermining judicial independence just means undermining another one of our institutions. That is why the historical trend was to pick qualified and relatively moderate Justices. Trump and his voters threw that out the window so I will have no sympathy when they watch the other side take up the baton of gerrymandering the courts.

First thing I thought of. :)

Can't think of a single politician that I "love".

Back in the day, I suppose you could say (flawed though he was) that I loved Reagan, because he gave us hope in a time when we had none.

Today... no, can't think of a single one.

I love my family and a few dear friends. God. My cats.

Politicians I merely tolerate.

I love my girlfriend. I love my family & friends.

I don't really "love" any politician.

Love? Probably not. Respect? Maybe. For example, my personal experience was that most non-partisan right-wingers expressed respect for Bernie. Not because they approved of his politics, which they didn't, but because they genuinely thought his heart was in the right place. They believe he was in it for the greater good rather than to just improve his own lot in life. It does NOT mean they would vote for him.

But I think if we had a President that most people respected, even if they disagreed, we would be in a much better place as far as the psyche of our country goes.

I think there are people on the right who feel similar about Biden. If I have to think of people on the right who I respect it is tough, not because I think such Republicans don't exist, but because the ones who get the press, and thus I am familiar with, don't fall into that category. McCain is probably the closest for me. I disagree with his politics but I respect him as a person.

But as for someone that all sides can rally around, no, that person does not exist. Our country has become too partisan for that to happen.
