Trumps ignorance knows no bounds - Japanese cars

Yeah, that fish story was pretty pathetic... the media edited the video to fit their manufactured narrative... The full video shows both Trump and the other guy using spoons to transfer portions of food to the fish, and then the other guy dumps the rest of his food to the fish (since there was only a little bit left in the container), and then Trump followed his lead and dumped the little bit of food he had left to the fish as well.

Do you really think that they would have much more food in their containers than what the fish could handle? I would logically reason out that the containers of food were prepared in advance with the mindset that it all would get fed to the fish...

I can't stand Leftists blindly following media stories without applying any logic to what they just heard...

So he did indeed say the exact quote I provided. Thank you for confirming that.

So you are to remain arrogantly ignorant even after the logic is shown you, "chief"?

you are ok with lies as long as it's your team.

No lies were inolved and your own post shows that.

Thank you for confirming Trump said the words the Free Press quoted.

So he did indeed say the exact quote I provided. Thank you for confirming that.

He's saying that he wants them to build even more cars in the United States (instead of shipping cars from there to here) ... He's not saying that no Japanese cars are built here, as evidenced in the linked article to you by the bolded text located above the text that you are quoting out of context.

Trump just got done saying that they've been creating jobs for our country, and the part you are quoting (when actually taken in context) is him urging them to continue doing so to an even greater extent.

I'm not the biggest fan of him myself, I go both ways on him (depending on the issue and depending on which end of the flip flop he is currently advocating for, but your hatred for the man completely blinds you from having intelligent discussion concerning him and what he says.

Obviously not, or they were taken out of context.

Make up your mind. Did he say the words quoted in the Free Press or did he NOT say the words quoted in the Free Press?

And if that indeed was the message, why would he be so incredibly stupid to say those particular lines which present a very negative picture of his knowledge of the situation?

Didn't Free Press delete the article?

If this is how you wish to present yourself, "chief". I won't stand in your way......

As you admit your disdain for "logic" I am not surprised.

You already got crushed and flushed with your silly post about logic previously. Are you a glutton for punishment?

Lol, libs are sooooooo gullible. They will literally believe anything from the propaganda wing of the Democrat Party, more commonly known as the mainstream media. :doh

I don't understand your post. Trump asked Japan to build more cars in the United States. They have been building more and more in the United States for years.

I don't understand your post. Trump asked Japan to build more cars in the United States. They have been building more and more in the United States for years.

What's wrong with that?

What's wrong with that?

They are already doing it. It's like asking a trucker to drive his truck. He is already going to do that.

The way I understand it, real wealth is created when you turn raw material into usable products.
Early on Japan was shipping completed cars to the US. At some point the import duties on finished products
mad it more advantages to simply make and ship in parts, and have the parts assembled in the US.
The real profit is still in Japan, and assembling the cars in the US is good for marketing.

"President Donald Trump pushed for more "reciprocal" trade in Tokyo on the second day of his Asian tour and suggested that Japanese automakers "try building your cars in the United States instead of shipping them over."

— Reuters contributed to this article.
Correction: An earlier headline misstated the context of the president's request.

Seems Reuters posted the same bull**** that was posted in the FREEP and you swallowed. Difference being Reuters amended their story to correctly reflect what was said, whereas the FREEP just deleted their article.

What "context" changes the meaning from one that sure sounds like he doesn't know that Japanese automakers ALREADY built cars in the U.S.?

And if that indeed was the message, why would he be so incredibly stupid to say those particular lines which present a very negative picture of his knowledge of the situation?

What's so dumb about him urging them to build their cars here (jobs for us) instead of shipping them over?

You're getting way too caught up on trying to make his words into something idiotic when they obviously are not...

Meanwhile, I'll add a very small sampling of Lefty politician quotes for you to mull over which actually ARE stupid in every way, unlike this Trump quote you are trying to force to be stupidity...

“Every month that we do not have an economic recovery package 500 million Americans lose their jobs.” - Nancy Pelosi

“African Americans watch the same news at night that ordinary Americans do.” - Bill Clinton

“Those who survived the San Francisco earthquake said, ‘Thank God, I’m still alive.’ But, of course, those who died, their lives will never be the same again.” – Barbara Boxer

“But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.” – Nancy Pelosi

“Today we have two Vietnams, side by side, north and south.” – Sheila Jackson Lee

“Our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes and I see many of them in the audience here today.” – Barack Obama

“It (marijuana) will still be legal under federal law.” - Dianne Feinstein

"In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died -- an entire town destroyed" - Barack Obama [only 12 people died]

“If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, there’s still a 30% chance we’re going to get it wrong.” - Joe Biden

See the OP and you'll understand what he is responding to

The part where he talks about them creating jobs for us...

They are already doing it. It's like asking a trucker to drive his truck. He is already going to do that.

Not the same analogy... they are doing it at a X% rate, not a 100% rate...

I don't understand your post. Trump asked Japan to build more cars in the United States. They have been building more and more in the United States for years.
It's more than that. He was making it sound as if they weren't doing it. "Try building your cars in the United States instead of shipping them over. That’s not too much to ask,” "That’s not too much to ask," is saying that they aren't doing it now, which is false.

The Trump apologists will go to long lengths to claim that what Trump actually said he meant something different.

"We are all capable of believing things which we know to be untrue, and then, when we are finally proved wrong, impudently twisting the facts so as to show that we were right. Intellectually, it is possible to carry on this process for an indefinite time: the only check on it is that sooner or later a false belief bumps up against solid reality, usually on a battlefield."
– George Orwell

Not the same analogy... they are doing it at a X% rate, not a 100% rate...

My honest opinion of Trump's statement is that it was part joke and part sales pitch. He followed up his initial statement by praising Toyota and Mazda for continuing to grow in the United States. The thing that bothers me about it is that Trump was the person who constantly tried to tell everyone that America is getting kicked around all of the time. Now he is in a situation where everyone knows Japanese investment in these American plants has been increasing for years now. I thought that the statement was either ignorant or inappropriate considering how significant Japanese investment has been. It flew in the face of what has been one of his main arguments over the past two years or so.

The part where he talks about them creating jobs for us...
The phrase, "you've been creating jobs for our country for a long, long time," is in the abstract. Then, he goes off and says, "if you're a Japanese firm, we love it — try building your cars in the United States instead of shipping them over. Is that possible to ask? That's not rude. Is that rude? I don't think so." -- which means the "creating jobs" isn't referring to cars Japanese make in the U.S. He underscores not building them in U.S. with: " If you could build them. But I must say, Toyota and Mazda — where are you? Are you here, anybody?"

Trump further underscores his lack of knowledge that this is ALREADY happening by saying: "Come on, let me shake your hand. (Applause.) They're going to invest $1.6 billion in building a new manufacturing plant, which will create as many as 4,000 new jobs in the United States." That means in THE FUTURE.

I also want to recognize the business leaders in the room whose confidence in the United States — they've been creating jobs — you have such confidence in the United States, and you've been creating jobs for our country for a long, long time. Several Japanese automobile industry firms have been really doing a job. And we love it when you build cars — if you're a Japanese firm, we love it — try building your cars in the United States instead of shipping them over. Is that possible to ask? That's not rude. Is that rude? I don't think so. (Laughter.) If you could build them. But I must say, Toyota and Mazda — where are you? Are you here, anybody? Toyota? Mazda? I thought so. Oh, I thought that was you. That's big stuff. Congratulations. Come on, let me shake your hand. (Applause.) They're going to invest $1.6 billion in building a new manufacturing plant, which will create as many as 4,000 new jobs in the United States. Thank you very much. Appreciate it.

Did you read the entirety of his comments? You know...the part where he said

I also want to recognize the business leaders in the room whose confidence in the United States -- they've been creating jobs -- you have such confidence in the United States, and you've been creating jobs for our country for a long, long time. And we're very pleased that just last month, Denso announced that it will invest $1 billion to expand its activities in Tennessee, a great state -- great state --

AMBASSADOR HAGERTY: (Inaudible) right here, Mr. President.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: I know, I'm going to introduce him now. And create over 1,000 new jobs. And I do believe that's you -- another famous man. Come here. (Applause.) Great state. You're going to love being there.

And again, it's really terrific. You watch, it's going to be -- it's going to go so smoothly. And the process is a much easier process now. So, thank you. Thank you both very much.

I want to thank these companies, but I want to thank all of the companies that are coming in. Many companies have announced now that they're coming into the United States to do plants, to do factories, to move. You saw Broadcom is coming in -- top 100 company -- they announced on Thursday from the Oval Office. Anytime you'd like to expand a second -- see, I don’t have to do that now because you've already announced, so I don’t have to bother. But if you do a little more expansion, we'll do it from the Oval Office, you two, all right? (Laughter.)"

The snippet that was cherry picked was in regard to the trade imbalance. It is in his own direct comments that he fully acknowledged the already great relationship with Japan and their US manufacturing.

So...do you acknowledge that the OP and the article cited are nothing but hate fueled lies?

:lamo

You folk and your pathetic tiny little hate hard-ons...its amazing how easily you abandon anything resembling personal integrity. And whats worse...you are the lot that are constantly talking **** about HIM? Pretty ****ing sad, pal. And you dont even have the grace to be embarrassed. You'll just double down.

Not doubling down at all. What he said is accurate, as I pointed out, but it also exposed the hypocrisy of his view and that of the US car industry... and that is just a big problem. The Japanese dont care about American cars, if they dont get what they want... and the American car industry is not willing to do that. Hence Trumps accusation is nothing but an insult based on his own ignorance and as it seems.. that of his supporters.
