A majority of Americans say President Trump has not accomplished much during his first nine months in office and they have delivered a report card that is far harsher even than the tepid expectations they set for his tenure when he was sworn into office, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News survey.

Approaching the first anniversary of his victory over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, Trump has an approval rating demonstrably lower than any previous chief executive at this point in his presidency over seven decades of polling. Fewer than 4 in 10 Americans — 37 percent — say they approve of the way he is handling his job.

Trump’s approval rating has changed little over the past four months, which have included tumultuous events, from hurricanes to legislative setbacks to indictments in special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation into the role Russia played in the 2016 campaign.

The president’s disapproval rating has reached 59 percent, with 50 percent saying they strongly disapprove of the job he is doing. While little changed since the summer, both represent the worst marks of his presidency.

The question will be, “Who do his supporters blame?”

Sooo...he still retains the same percentage of support he had which won him the election, despite all the negative spin and lack of coverage for actual accomplishments by the MSM?

41% of Americans didn't bother to even vote during the last election. The remaining 59% were split fairly evenly between Trump and Hillary (about 27% for Trump and 28% for Clinton) with about 4% voting independent.

Now 37% say they approve?

I guess this approval rating actually demonstrates he still has the approval of the people who elected him, as well as a decent percent of those who didn't.

What more does he need? :coffeepap:

No one ever wins an election with 37% support, no matter how badly you spin it. Now with the corruption investigation in full force, its only going to get much worse.

...and yet he won the election with 27% support. Facts speak louder than partisan opinion.

Try to remember that the U.S. is a Federal system not a "pure democracy." It was intentionally designed that way to prevent tyranny of the majority. :coffeepap:

Yes his base is still with him, and that only means they listen to his propaganda and eat it up. So, where are all these people who like him but didn't vote for him? Because every single poll shows him losing support. He's even lost about 10% of his support in a year.

He won by 27% of the vote, and per this poll he has a 37% approval rating. If we accept this poll's results (and I don't trust polls even when they are in favor of things I agree with), then he has a 10% margin among people who did not vote for him.

There is your answer. :coffeepap:

Approval rating measures the entire population not necessarily the voting population or specifically those who voted for Trump. That's why you always have 4-8% say not sure.

I have noticed something very odd in regard to polls posted at Real Clear Politics. Gallup seems to produce a poll every couple of days. Even when other polls will show an uptick, Gallups are often 10-12 points lower.

I think that what he needs is something you may not be taking into account. He needs the 41% of Americans who didn't bother to vote to once again sit the next one out, which I find extremely unlikely. I have a feeling that the vast majority of Trump supporters did not sit the last election out, but many, many Democrats sat the election out because of their distaste for Hillary. I think that Trump's actions will spur many of those 41% to vote next time, and if that happens I don't see how Trump gets reelected.

I am not concerned about the next election (although he may be).

I am concerned with this 4 year administration.

I voted for Trump for these reasons:

1. He wasn't Hillary.

2. He promised to appoint a conservative Justice to SCOTUS who would protect the Second Amendment. (He did).

3. He promised to act on immigration issues. (He has tried, despite all opposition from the SJW, Progressive-Left, Socialists, etc.)

4. He promised tax reform. (He's working on it.)

5. He promised to do something about the ACA. (Again, he has tried but unfortunately his faith lay with Republican promises that they had "repeal and replace" reform all locked an loaded...but it was a dud.)

6. He was going to shake up Washington as a political outsider. (By any measure THAT's certainly happening.) ;)

I'll wait to see who runs next election...but my concerns are based in the 'now," not the "then."

One of my biggest fears was that all the doomsaying by Liberals would set expectations for this dip **** so low, that if he didn't destroy the country or launch a nuclear holocaust within his first year in office people would view is only marginally ****ty job performance as being positive. It's encouraging to see more and more people slowly waking to reality.

Wasn't he supposed to drain the swamp? He only has made it far worse. Rest assured his tax "reform" will fail also as has every single major piece of legislation.

Ya Right, a highly subjective poll coming from MSM pollsters who hate President Trump, gave Hillary a 90+% chance of winning, and know there is no upcoming election that their numbers will be compared to.

By the way Bill Clinton polls # dipped to 37% during this same time period. And that was from pollsters who loved him. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...g_so_low_in/&usg=AOvVaw1rjHRkeJxDDOQFIN8mDUHi

Polls say little has changed? Except the highest consumer confidence in 17 years and best overall economy 12 years and All President Trump had to do was repeal all of Obama's economy killing executive orders.

Even average people now realize Russia collusion and Mueller investigation was a fraud.

Obama did not get a lot of Legislation done either just executive orders.

President Trump repealing all of Obama's economy killing executive orders has improved the economy more than any new laws.

That Gallup wont do a poll just before an election that their numbers can be compared to says it all.

Yup old O really released the suppressed lynching genes.
I guess our white boys don't have the brains of my daughter who founded a $150mm company under O.
Or my 23 yr old Neice who started at $90k with an engineering plastics degree.
Life is tough if you have any kind of education
