Well President Trump's problems just got bigger. Sam Clovis was Trump's Co -Chair for his presidential campaign. He is also Trump's nomination for secretary of Agriculture. A position that both the senate and congress want to be filled by a person who possesses Scientific credentials, Clovis has none. Doesn't look like that nomination will go to well. The bigger question is what has Liddle Samuel told Meuller's Grand Jury?:lol::lol::lol::lol:

What do you think he told them?

I'll bet he didn't claim the 5th before the Grand Jury. If he claims it before his confirmation hearing he has a problem.

If, if, if, if, if, if, if..................... endless if. So what?

Here's what we know Clovis said about collusion with the Russians....

"... In August 2016, Clovis responded to efforts by Papadopoulos to organize an “off the record” meeting with Russian officials. “I would encourage you” and another foreign policy adviser to the campaign to “make the trip, if it is feasible,” Clovis wrote...."

Yup, there was collusion alright.

Do people bother to read the citations they use?

At one point, Papadopoulos emailed Clovis and other campaign officials about a March 24, 2016, meeting he had in London with a professor, who had introduced him to the Russian ambassador and a Russian woman he described as “Putin’s niece.” The group had talked about arranging a meeting “between us and the Russian leadership to discuss U.S.-Russia ties under President Trump,” Papadopoulos wrote. (Papadopoulos later learned that the woman was not Putin’s niece, and while he expected to meet the ambassador, he never did, according to filings.)

..and:

In August 2016, Clovis responded to efforts by Papadopoulos to organize an “off the record” meeting with Russian officials. “I would encourage you” and another foreign policy adviser to the campaign to “make the trip, if it is feasible,” Clovis wrote.

Toensing said Clovis “always vigorously opposed any Russian trip for Donald Trump and/or the campaign.” She said his responses to Papadopoulos were courtesy by “a polite gentleman from Iowa.”

Haven't we all heard that such contacts are typical of candidates in national campaigns...the sole purpose being to open non-official avenues of communication?

Meanwhile the information bolded in the first quote, as well as a reading of the rest of the article clearly shows that there was no actual contacts with anyone of note. Just possibilities this junior "advisor" was seeking to push to build himself up within the campaign...apparently without much success.

Much ado about nothing trying to turn it into something IMO.

Get back to me when something factual and criminal actually occurs. :coffeepap:

So now that contacts with Russians by Trumps people are no longer "hoaxes" made up by Dems because they lost, they magically become "typical of candidates in national campaigns"? Then why did they all lie about them? Every single one of Trumps closest advisers during the campaign have denied contact with Russians and then been caught in a lie because of it. It that also typical?
Because I can't remember a single case where something like this happened before.

Oh and have no fear Mueller will be getting back to you soon enough.

"They" didn't lie. The accused are Manafort...based on his business dealings years before, and this low level volunteer staffer who was trying to make a name for himself by his own actions. Apparently, as so far reported, the only person he actually contacted was this mysterious "professor" and the rest is just hopes and dreams on his part.

Now if something more factual comes out, well and good. Until then I'd hope that people would stop exaggerating the importance and take a dose of reali-tea. :coffeepap:

Of course they lied. Jared lied on his security clearance, Trump Jr. lied about the meeting with the Russians, and even Sessions who is pictured with Papadapoulos in "foreign policy" meetings where he discussed the emails the Russians were offering. This is just the tip of the iceberg and Flynn has been quite quiet lately. If Manafort and Flynn flip it could be quite interesting don't you think?

"Papadapoulos is one one man down from Sessions on the left.

Where is the "evidence" that "They" discussed the emails at that meeting you see pictured?

And why should the fact this particular staffer can be seen in a photo indicate he had any real importance?

In my lifetime I participated as a staffer in two political campaigns. I am in several pictures seated or standing with the main characters...as a silent observer happy to be there.

Like I said, IMO people should stop with all the guilt by association and exaggeration of importance rants and let the facts develop the story.

Actually now we have guilt by confession of lying about contacts with Russians plus his testimony that he told members high in the campaign that the Russians offered the DNC emails to Trump in April 2016 and their response was go for it.

I think what you have here is Russians reaching out to people in Trumps orbit in an attempt to infiltrate the campaign. That some 'professor' offered up dirt to the Trump camp is really no different to what they were doing with the Clinton camp through Steele. Russians were involved with both camps, you just ignore the ties t Hillary for partisan reasons. The fact is, Popodopoulous is not evidence of collusion but of Russian outreach. Apparently he didn't lie about the contacts, but the timeline. Is there more? Possibly. Is this evidence of anything? No.

You still don't explain all the secrecy and lying about Russian contacts by the Trump campaign. Or Don Jr.'s "love it" email response to the Russian Govt. offer of "dirt" on Clinton. The stench of corruption is undisputable and it pervades the Trump administration still.

Doesn't mean a damn thing. Mueller asks questions, even of totally innocent people who did nothing. That is the job he has been assigned.

This congress will in all likelihood confirm anyone Trump puts up. My personal belief is many in the House and Senate are afraid Trump will call them out, primary them, or they will lose the support of Trump's core base. Let's be real, most of Trump's nominees are the opposite of qualified for the position they receive, like Ben Carson, HUD Secretary, Betsy DeVos, Sec of Education, etc. Trump gives position of power to those who contributed heavily to his campaign or will give their loyalty some way.

I agree. Trump's cabinet is virtually the definition of "Swamp". Unqualified and corrupt cronies who are there to collect perks and little else.

Oh gee...they only reached out to a foreign government to help them to get elected. Nothing to see here! Back to Benghazi folks. They said it was because of a video! Lock them up!

What do you think he told them?

Well Papadopolus says that Clovis suggested that He go to Russia and GOOD WORK. Question is was he speaking for himself or for some one else.:peace

I'll bet he didn't claim the 5th before the Grand Jury. If he claims it before his confirmation hearing he has a problem.

There will never be a confirmation hearing.:peace

Ya and for Sessions his problems just got bigger because Sessions was sitting two or three seats to Papadopaulos right.

HA! that's a good one. Manafort is looking at 12 years and Gates I think is looking at five or six . Manafort is I think seventy years old. This a paper case.Tax records show Manafort lying about foreign bank accounts. Very hard to defend. What do you think he might want to sell to Meuller?:lol:
