Trump's Rhetoric Works:

For those of us paying attention we know Trump is a lying charlatan but for those who only like to listen to one side of the aisle and those who's opinions are so hardened by the right a solid 35% of the country.

Trump's attacks on NFL, Hollywood, The Media, Obama Regulations, and now Drugs works! It only fuels his base and his supporters. These people only see the right wing side of things. They think Trump is untouchable because the right wing media are not the ones who are criticizing him. They think Obama & Hillary are bad because the right wing tells them they are and they criticize them if they look at you the wrong way. Not so for Trump. Silence, or excuses. They think Republicans are bad because Right Wing tells them they are. This is why they can't define what it means to be Establishment.

Trump swallows and excretes the **** Fox News and Breitbart says and they then turn around and do the same with what Trump says. It's like if the human centipede were connected at both ends into a ring. Truth and reason have definitely taken a huge hit over the past two years and the cycle of nonsense and intentional misinformation needs to be broken.

I don't disagree with you, but I think Trumps appeal is more than that. During the campaign, he managed to reach out to people who felt, for whatever reason, left out by the changing economic system. To use a phrase we used to hear about another politician, he felt their pain and they responded. In my opinion Trumps performance as president doesn't match what he called for in the campaign. Instead of a healthcare plan that covered more people at less cost, he backed a plan that would have cost millions of people their coverage and cut taxes on the wealthy. Same thing with the tax cut, same old trickle down that didn't work for the 3 previous tax cuts. My question is, with this experience, will Americans still believe that he's on their side when Trump tells them so?

It's been slow in coming, not trusting the media. It began with Ted Turner creating and owning CNN. CNN has been biased to the left ever since. MSNBC has followed suit, way to the left of CNN. Of course the right wing and conservatives in general don't trust those two networks. I probably should add PBS.

The left doesn't trust FoxNews, mainly because they tell the news from a conservative point of view, differently than what they have been used to especially with MSNBC and CNN telling it from left and far left. If one wants just the news, just the facts, straight news, I wouldn't look to cable to get it. Cable news channels are in the news business to make a profit, make money. Each has a targeted audience and each wants to keep the viewership they have while adding new viewers.

With the news media taking sides instead of just reporting the news that happens, straight without spin or bias or telling us what just happened means. Trust in the media has taken a dive. Only 32% of all Americans now have a great deal or fair amount of trust in the media. That's down from 54% in 2003.

Americans' Trust in Mass Media Sinks to New Low

With most of the media on the Democrats side, it isn't surprising that 51% of Democrats have trust in the media. With Republicans, their trust is at 14% with only one channel they trust. Independents come in at 30%. These are huge drops in trusting the media from 2005 when 71% of Democrats trusted the media, 31% of Republicans and 49% of Independents.

This lack of trust is all over the spectrum, not just the right wing. Then again, it is the media itself that has caused people to distrust them by taking sides in political disputes.

The reason it works is due to the overreaction coming from the Left. If they would dial it down and simply say he is wrong or his statement is factually incorrect and move on when he makes a stupid statement then the focus would be on Trump, however they take those comments turn the outrage meter to 11 and act like Trump is Hitler reincarnated. This turns the focus on them and for people that already have a distrust of the Left wing media, they see this as attacks on Trump.

For someone on the right it is almost impossible to only see the right wing narrative unless they literally only keep their TV on Fox. There are also right wing pundits who are highly critical of Trump.

If you were paying attention, you would notice that the "you a liar, a racist and stupid" strategy does more harm than good.

You would also notice that the country has rejected the Liberal/establishment/political class big government agenda.
