In a news conference at the Rose Garden Monday, President Trump was asked why he hasn't commented on the ambush and killing of four Green Berets in the country of Niger two weeks ago?

Instead of answering the question Trump said he had written personal letters to the families and planned to call later this week. Then Trump said, "If you look at President Obama and other presidents, most of them didn't make calls." Trump said." A lot of them didn't make calls. I like to call them when appropriate."

When pressed further by a reporter about President Obama not calling families of fallen soldiers, Trump said, "I don't know if he did," Trump said, "I was told he didn't often , and a lot of presidents don't. They write letters."

What is your point?

Trump playing/lying to his base on the backs of dead American soldiers.

More fake news straight from the horse's [strike]mouth[/strike] ass.

Trumpians be going, "Yeah, but Hillary...; Yeah but Obama..."

By using the phrase, "I was told...." He can always claim he was not lying.....just that he was lied to. Its pathetic

Obama's shameful legacy of killing hundreds of innocent civilians through drone strikes was disgraceful. Writing letters/phone calls doesn't excuse what he did.

I think it is more important to speak to the family in as personal a way as possible, rather than address such an issue with the general public as a "first response."

After all, they are the ones who actually suffered the greatest loss. The rest of us can be patient.

As for the ancillary comments about what other President's may or may not have done? That is important because? :coffeepap:

Probably the same moron that told him he had the "biggest electoral college win since Ronald Reagan."

I suspect the moron was him. He is a noted moron.

Trump's shameful legacy will be that "I was told" is his standard response to his incessant lies being called out.

Both Trump and Obama lied. However Obama lies led to people dying and losing their job/coverage.

I listened to a replay of the news conference, and Trump is right to give the families some time to come to terms with the death before he calls them.

It took him this long to respond because it took him this long to learn how to pronounce Niger.

Drone strikes are terrible regarding collateral kills. It's a messy business of eliminated those who would do us harm. Tell Exxon Mobil not to do business in places that require American military to protect Exxon Mobil business ventures. Or better yet we should all stop driving cars and trucks this way Exxon Mobil wont have a market for Blood for Oil. Seems harsh but it's true. Guess we all have a little blood on our hands ,don't we? But writing letters or calling the families of the soldiers killed in action isn't asking to be excused for the drone strikes. You have conflated two distinct issues which have nothing to do with each other.:(

I guess the only fake news Trump needs to worry about are the voices in his head.
