Todays Trump lie: a GOP senator in the hospital prevented the successful repeal of Obama care this week. According to the Liar in chief, they had the votes but one of them was in the hospital.

Turns out to be a lie.

A Republican senator tweeted Wednesday that he is not in the hospital, after President Donald Trump repeatedly cited his supposed hospitalization as a reason Republicans did not have enough votes to pass healthcare legislation in the Senate.

"Thanks for the well-wishes," tweeted Sen. Thad Cochran of Mississippi. "I'm not hospitalized, but am recuperating at home in Mississippi and look forward to returning to work soon."

Trump began Wednesday by tweeting that one Senate "yes" vote was in the hospital, preventing senators from voting on the Graham-Cassidy legislation ahead of a September 30 deadline under which just a simple majority would be required to pass the bill. Republicans announced Tuesday they would not bring the legislation forward for a vote.

Reports later said that Trump was referencing Cochran. He was recovering from treatment for a urological issue, USA Today reported.

Speaking to reporters before departing Washington, DC, for Indiana, Trump repeated many times that one senator was "in the hospital" when explaining why a vote on healthcare legislation would have to wait.

No wonder 56% of Americans think he is unfit for office.
 
Was he in the hospital before he was recuperating at home?

Nobody seems to be mentioning that and, seeing how the Mainstream Media is prone to leave little...important...things like that out when they spin the news, I think that would be a question that needs an answer.

NO.

Trump lied. He did not have the votes, the world knows it, the leadership knows it and Cochran knows it.

Lots of possibilities you don't want to consider, it seems.

1. Perhaps he was expected to be in the hospital longer or perhaps Trump wasn't told he was out of the hospital at this point. In any case, from Cochran's tweet there is no indication when he'll be back in DC.

2. Perhaps Trump knows something about those "three votes" that you don't know.

3. Perhaps, with Cochran, they now DO have enough votes.

Not one thing you have said in that post or any other changes the fact that Trump LIED claiming that it was Cochran being in the hospital that doomed the health care vote. NOT ONE THING.

Cochran was NOT in the hospital missing any vote.

There already were three announced NO votes which killed the bill.

Cochran's vote was irrelevant since it would not have taken them to 50 necessary to get Pence to break the tie.

Not one thing you said changes any of that.

This is yet another example of how the Left turns mistakes into lies. You'd think they'd tire of it. Recuperating at home is not the same as being in the hospital. But apparently he didn't tweet the President he'd come home. Pathetic.

Cochrans vote WAS IRRELEVANT as there were already a firm 51 NO votes. If he was at home or in the hospital or at a movie theater or in Barbados getting a tan - it is irrelevant.

Trump lied. They did not have the votes and it had nothing to do with Senator Cochran and where he was or was not.

Didn't matter. There were at least THREE public no votes - McCain, Paul, and Collins. The GOP can lose only 2, with Pence casting tie vote. Even if Cotton couldn't make the vote, which no one has alleged, it still fails.

It's amazing how easily Trump lies about stuff that is so easily proved total BS. It's pathological, or maybe he just knows his base doesn't care and somehow likes him for being a liar. Weird.

Never mind the quote. I watched the video. What he said was, paraphrased, they had the votes necessary but didn't take the vote because his vote was needed along with two others whose votes he had. So they didn't take the vote because, even with those two who were planning to vote for it, without THAT vote, it wouldn't pass anyway. That is completely different, isn't it? What a surprise.
