Rural Electricication act of 1936

Well if yoy live in a rural area and use electricity from the grid you can thank the New Deal Politics and the co sponcership of a republican named Norris and a Democrat name Rayburn.
During that time electricity was routed to rural America because the utility companies largely were not willing or able to deliver electricity to such vast distances.
So they and the government teamed up to form co ops to get the job done.
However at the time the Republican sponcer Mr. Norris was attacked by his republican colleagues for what they call "Socialism".
So all you country folk who hate that "S" word.
Shut your dam lights. Off
60 Minutes did a scathing report on why it still exists about 30-ish years ago.

President Reagan vowed to eliminate it... and underestimated how entrenched bureaucracies become.

It's original mission was accomplished decades ago.

It still exists, albeit with a different name so as to not attract as much attention.

Wow! Sounds like your very rural. I was born and raised in New Hampshire and got my first gun at nine years old. I'm beginning to sound like Daniel Boon. LOL. But it's true. I currently live upstate New York and work at West Point. I laugh when some of my colleagues show concern for wild animals in the area. They say, there are bears around here. I say, sure there are, next! I live in a rural soundings but not as rural as you I guess. I'm happy for you.

Yesterday I had chance to photograph a group of wild turkeys in my back yard. There were about 25 of them. Deer feed in our hay field daily. Haven't seen a bear around here.
